Is the end near for Internal Combustion?

Of the top 5 vehicles most popular in the United States today,
Chevy Silverado
Ford F150
Dodge Ram 1500
make the list signaling that Americans still want pickup trucks with worry free range and towing power.

EV's will never replace the internal combustion engine and just be a part of the larger market.

You assume people are going to buy them. You can't force the public into something they don't want, nor does the infrastructure exist to support your timeline.

More auto companies are moving to Electric Vehicles. Nobody is investing in R&D for Internal Combustion. The handwriting is on the wall.

As Ford shifts to producing more electric vehicles, it expects to lay off a number of employees, mostly engineers, in North America over the coming days.
No one has to be a detective to know that as the deadlines in countries get closer where the sale of new ICE vehicles are banned, the investment in ICE technology reduces.

It also means that EV's still don't/won't appeal to the majority due to their overall inconvenience.

One prediction people should be making is how many auto makers will go bust due to EV's. Even Toyota said EV's are not viable, and without the billions off the US government, Tesla would have gone bust years ago.

Why is nobody doing smaller ICE with a large electric motor, maybe with some inverters n stuff?

I know, moving parts and all, but it works for trains. Maybe with a large flywheel and about 10 gears..

Evs have a real world problem.

Rocks

We do not have enough of the essential minerals needed. If you people want all cars to be electric we would have to increase mining 1000 times over.

That basically means slavery as we have already seen in cobalt and other rare earth mines.
Don't forget that China has the world market on these minerals cornered. So we once again become dependent on China

Forget mining here in the US because the same people who want all these electric cars are the same ones who have basically prohibited mining in the US. Ironic isn't it?
