Is the US to blame for all of Cuba's ills?

US sanctions are terribly harmful to the poor people of Cuba.
That may have been true 3 or 4 decades ago.
But today Cuba does a billion dollars in trade with Canada annually, and also has economic ties with China, Mexico, Brazil, Spain, and the Netherlands.
Like all communist run countries, the problem is the government, not the US sanctions.. ...

At least you acknowledge you don't support free markets.

I do? Link?

Yes the US is in part, to blame.

Okay no problem, but I just did that in another thread on this topic.

Are you aware the US has heavily sanctioned and stopped all trade with Cuba for 60 years? Now put the puzzle together. The world’s preeminent economic and military nation doing this to Cuba for 60 FUCKING YEARS, will have a negative impact.

No? Yes?
Fidel wanted to put Russian nuclear missiles in his people's backyards.
When Russia went tits up and stopped propping up Fidel's economy Fidel's people were fucked.
I once visited Cuba with a farmer's group.
I was on a bus when I saw a man wheeling a woman in a wheelbarrow down the road.
I asked the bus driver what the man was doing. The bus driver said: "He's taking his wife to the hospital".
Under your messiah Dumb Don, our government did this…but they’d never pressure nations not to trade with Cuba. Lol

THE United States has launched a stunning attack on Cuba’s medical-aid missions, with the Trump administration pressing countries to reject them during the coronavirus pandemic.
US pressures countries to reject Cuban aid during coronavirus pandemic
We had ample proof of the failure of communism for the majority of people with Cuba. It was there for all to see. No one bothered it after the Bay of Pigs and before that. It failed.

The question isn't whether or not it's been good for the people. The question is whether or not our actions have done anything to help.

Not really our responsibility to help our self declared enemies.

Little Cuba is our enemy after 60 years?

I'm happy to point out your error.

You support our actions in Cuba. I don't need to further explain that.
Cuba doesn't have a free market....and the US had nothing to do with Cuba deciding not to have a free market and adopt the Socialist plan....that has obvious results like we are seeing, and have seen.

Remember the huge oil discovery off of Cuba? They invited all the oil majors to a meeting in Mexico City.. I think it was at the Marriott. Bush threatened them.. Must have been about 2006 or so.
I believe the oil discovery was 2008...Octoberish...during the Obama regime...and it was the Obama regime that raised concerns a few years later: Oil discovery in Cuba gets US notice

Nonetheless, all nothing was found and the oil companies left a by 2013: Companies abandon search for oil in Cuba's deep waters

Nice attempt to rewrite history though and try to blame the US, and a republican.

Nope. It was when Dubya was president. Feb 2006

The Reality of a Cuban Oil Bonanza
In December 2004, the Cuban regime of Fidel Castro announced that they had
discovered a significant oil reserve off the northwest coast of the island. More
importantly, the potential of the oil finds could dramatically decrease the island’s
dependence on imported oil and could serve as boon to the Cuban economy. There has
been much conjecture of the size and scope of oil reserves in the 59 offshore tracts in
Cuban exclusive economic zone (EEZ). The working estimates are that there are a
potential of 120 thousand barrels of oil per day, perhaps more, but the sea floor is over a
mile deep and the oil reserves perhaps an additional 3,000 feet beneath the sea floor.

Looks like the Obama regime continued to have concerns as I highlighted...I don't see where Bush did anything you suggested though....

With that said...it appears the Castro regime lied anyway...as no oil was found and companies left....typical leftist...nothing but lies

As people in Cuba begin to protest their government because of shortages and long lines and a failing economy, etc., government officials in Cuba blame the US for all their ills.

So is the US to blame? On the one hand, Marxists want to destroy the US, but on the other hand, seem to complain when the US does not help them economically or boycotts them economically. Why then do they want to destroy the US economy that they seem to need?

Either that or there is some other hidden way the US is destroying Cuba

Anyone?

And the only response from Joe Biden is that he condemns any violence. There is no support for anyone as he basically ignores what is gong on.
The US is not responsible.

Communists always fail and always blame others especially the US
You always fail Dulles.
For a person who fails I ALWAYS prover you a liar and fool.

Its ok I can fail cause I will always have you as my total bitch. How does it feel to be owned by me and whored out?
Dulles, you’re fear of the Red Menace is so passé. The USSR no longer exits. This isn’t your grandpa’s world. A world he terrorized and was responsible for mass murdering untold numbers of innocent people.

You must be so proud.
Castro did the same thing, moron. Tell the people of Venezuela that Marxism is something we no longer have to worry about them. Ask them why that had to eat their pets.

It was a real stink.. ALL the oil majors were invited and Dubya threatened the Hotel chain and Exxon.

It was the Sheraton that Dubya threatened.

Jun 22, 2006 · and as demonstrated by the presence of American oil interests in the February 2006 U.S.- Cuban Energy Summit in Mexico City, there may be interest in cooperating in joint venture projects, and by extension assisting in the long-term development in Cuba’s oil industry.

They do not but it wasn't Cuba stopping U.S. companies from doing business in Cuba but your answer is saying they are no different than the U.S. as far as markets go.

Cuba made a calculated decision to side with the former USSR for political power against the US, so why not just take their medicine like they asked for?

They simply chose a failing ideology to side with and subsequent failing economy.

hahaha no no...you've provided no proof of that "threat"

moreover, the law...passed long before Bush, wouldn't allow American companies to do business with Cuba at the time. The law was from JFK.
