No. There wasn't peace. There was a lack of conflict. Conflict requires two peoples with similar power bases. If only one party has power its oppression, not conflict.

Why was there a lack of conflict before? Because an oppressed peoples (the Jewish people) didn't feel like they had the ability to assert their rights. Conflict is not actually inevitable when an oppressed peoples do assert their rights. Nor does the responsibility for conflict rest solely with the oppressed people coming into their own.

One hopes that as other indigenous and oppressed peoples of the world assert their rights, there will be acceptance rather than resistance.
