Issues that conservatives suddenly don't care about ..

Eight years? Leftists are such ignorant simpletons, just regurgitating whatever they read off The Huffington Post with the memory and perspective of a damn goldfish. Democrats had complete control over congress and the White House for nearly the entire first term. Democrats could pass their agenda without any Republican votes. Obamacare was literally passed without a single Republican vote--and Obama claimed it was bi-partisan which was a bold faced lie.

Democrats passed their "shovel-ready" stimulus--and it was all bullshit. There was not shovel ready jobs!!!!!!!!!! All you can do is desperately try to rationalize and blame republicans for the countless lies and the disappointment that is Barack Hussien Obama.

More revisionist history

Democrats had a filibuster proof majority for four months

You still don't get what "shovel ready" was. It was not a promise of jobs but a criteria states had to meet to qualify for federal funds. Only shovel ready projects could qualify.

Revisionist history? You sir are an idiot.

How the Stimulus Fell Short

I spent three years reporting on the $840 billion stimulus plan that the Obama administration pushed through Congress in 2009. My conclusion: government can create jobs — it just doesn’t often do it well.

The stimulus — a historic package of tax cuts, safety-net spending, infrastructure projects and green-energy investments — certainly did a lot of good. As the economists Alan S. Blinder and Mark Zandi have noted, it’s one of the key reasons the unemployment rate isn’t in double digits now.

But the stimulus ultimately failed to bring about a strong, sustainable recovery. Money was spread far and wide rather than dedicated to programs with the most bang for the buck. “Shovel-ready” projects, those that would put people to work right away, took too long to break ground. Investments in worthwhile long-term projects, on the other hand, were often rushed to meet arbitrary deadlines, and the resulting shoddy outcomes tarnished the projects’ image.

Stimulus failed because it was too small for the size of recovery that was needed

Yeah......they should have spent 10 times more and put us even further into debt.

Not ten times but two times
Would have had recovery in a year instead of five years

Worked when Reagan did it

Yeah.......now you're saying Reagan was a commie loving socialist.

You're one confused individual.

I worked for the government under Reagan. Never saw as big an expansion as we saw under Reagan

Yep.....infrastructure investment.....a.k. STIMULUS? Shovel-ready Jobs?

Obama had no intention of INVESTING in infrastructure.

BTW, Investment = Raising Taxes

When Obama spoke of Transforming America, what he really meant was flooding the country with brown skinned foreigners and putting blacks in jobs they didn't qualify for.
When Obama spoke of Social Justice, what he really meant was organizing protests all over the country and giving blacks the idea that shooting cops is socially acceptable.

Republicans sat on it for six years even though it had the votes to pass

American Jobs Act - Wikipedia

  1. Spending $50 billion on both new & pre-existing infrastructure projects.
  2. Spending $35 billion in additional funding to protect the jobs of teachers, police officers, and firefighters
  3. Spending $30 billion to modernize at least 35,000 public schools and community colleges.
  4. Spending $15 billion on a program that would hire construction workers to help rehabilitate and refurbishing hundreds of thousands of foreclosed homes and businesses.
Over $100 billion in construction jobs rejected by Republicans
It was a non-starter. Obama wanted to create a bank so he could more easily pilfer the Treasury. He wouldn't specify what the money would be used for. (Most likely funding groups like ACORN and Blacklivesmatter to fund more riots in our cities and register illegal immigrants to vote in elections)
He also wanted to extend out unemployment benefits even more reducing any incentive people would have to find employment. If the GOP had passed it, the unemployment rate would have stayed around 10% for a couple of years longer.

He wanted to extend unemployment benefits because the jobs were not out there.
$100 billion invested in infrastructure would have provided those jobs

Republicans blocked it because they didn't want those jobs showing up on Obamas watch

Trump is chomping at the bit to get credit for those jobs
Yeah. Little do we know, there are millions of jobs out there waiting to be created and Obama wants to take credit for it. Right?
Here's the facts. Government does not create jobs. Government simply takes from us. Their job is to get the hell out of the way of the economy, but Obama couldn't seem to do that. He created thousands of regulations designed to increase costs to businesses and prevent entrepreneurship which is the machine behind job creation.
The Government creates tens of millions of jobs
What happens when the government opens a position?
What benefit is it to the economy?
How does is decrease the debt or balance the budget?

Compare it to a job created in the private sector. Private sector jobs are a plus whereas government jobs are a drain on the Treasury. Government jobs create more need for revenue which means increasing taxes, which increases the burden on job creators and tax payers. Basically, creating millions of government jobs does only one thing. Hurt the economy.

So did I. And I lost my job in government because of Reagan.

now that Trump is elected , cons have quickly forgotten issues that really bothered them under Obama.

Debt/deficit : 20 trillion!! Bah, who cares . Let's build giant walls and double the military. Costs be damn !

Prez security budget: Obama couldn't go to dinner without a story of how it cost taxpayers trillions . Now trump will be commuting from DC to manhattan on a daily basis . That's cool!

States rights : sanctuary city? You
Must bow to the Feds directives , at your own cost!

What else ? I had more but forgot .

Maybe we should at least wait until he is president and actually does do something.

No, much easier to say what he will do as if he has already done it.

Stop being a partisan pig hypocrite.

You Libtards bitched about Bush's deficits. In that fact that piece of shit that you voted for in 2008 said that Bush's debt was "unpatriotic" then he went on to rack up more debt than all the other Presidents combine and dumbasses like you voted for him.

You don't give a shit about debt.

You condemn Republican debt and do not say a word about Democrat debt. You have no principles so quit your bitching.

All jobs created by the government
The purpose of government has expanded to the point that it has become overly burdensome to the public good. You say you work in the government and you should know how it is slow and inefficient. You also should know that in every office or shop there are people who don't pull their own weight. Because they've created permanent positions, the lazy and worthless can come in every day and do absolutely nothing and not get fired because of it.

We're talking strictly Public Works here.

Policemen, teachers, and firefighters are a different issue. They aren't federal employees. I've never been one of these, so I can't speak to that issue and all you're trying to do is deflect from what we have been talking about.

Government employees are government employees regardless of what level they work at. Still jobs created by government
Government fills the roles that people can't. People can't build roads, so government collects money to build them collectively. Same with education, police, fire. The people can't build a military...we need the government to do that

Getting government out of health care is a biggie. They might move some furniture around, but they won't change anything substantial about ACA.

Yes, we do need government to do jobs that the private sector can't. Those provisions are listed in the US Constitution. Anything outside of that list should be handled by the state, city or county.

Government needs to do what needs to be done as determined by We the People.

Whether it is done at the local, state or federal level depends on where it makes the most sense
