It really is baffling to me republicans still think the wall is a good idea

Republicans believe that the more they dump on other people the more better their own lives will be.

They’ve done it to blacks.

They’ve done it to gays.

They’ve done it to Muslims.

Now it’s just the Hispanics turn.

None of that’s worked for them. What will actually work is hard work and education. And stop being such hateful people. I don’t believe they will ever figure it out.

Whats not baffaling at all is Democrats keep telling everyone a wall won't work and calls everyone who supports the idea racist bigots while offering up no realistic alternative showing that despite their repeated claims they don't want open borders they really do. No you can't build a wall the entire length of the U.S. Mexico border or that it will stop all illegal immigration. A wall being used with other means such as dornes and electronic surveillance would limit the areas where people could cross illegally and allow the border patrol to deploy their people in a more strategic way something that wouldn't totally stop illegal immigration nothing will but would very likely reduce it.

I'm Hispanic and a registered Republican. I don't see Republicans being hateful to me or dumping on me at all. Quite the contrary, it is Trump and Republicans who have brought Hispanic (and Black) unemployment to the lowest level EVER.

And as a Christian, I don't cotton to Democrats' support of the gay lifestyle, and other ultra-liberal social attitudes. And their support of Muslim Brotherhood groups disgusts me, as does their support of illegal aliens over the American people.

Of course, granted, the idea has always been baffling to me but republicans seem to have this fantasy now that the wall will solve our most pressing issues somehow.

What republicans are too dense to understand is that the left doesn’t like wall idea because we want open borders, it’s because it’s a stupid idea that an 8th grader would come up with. Just think about this critically for a moment. If the wall is such a genius idea to curb illegal immigration, why in the fuck didn’t any republican politician before Trump entertain such a simple idea? Sure repubs have proposed building some kind of barrier on certain stretches of the border, but none of them ever suggested that the entire border would be sealed off and it was the best immigration policy. Don’t republican voters ever think about this most basic of logic?

Okay but let’s pretend repubs are right about the idea even though they really aren’t. Let’s pretend the wall magically stopped the flow of illegal Latino immigrants because they were all too lazy to tunnel under it or climb over I guess.

Then what? The wall is built and illegal immigration is stopped. What is supposed to happen after that? Why would this one issue be the cure-all to the economy? The overall fraction of illegal immigrants coming from Mexico out of the US population is pretty small. Why would this suddenly boost wages, GDP, and revenue?

Now let’s pretend republicans had their ultimate wet dream fulfilled and all undocumented immigrants in this country were deported as well. You might see this as a positive by believing more legal citizens would get jobs, but why would that happen? The unemployment rate is under 4%. Getting rid of illegal immigrants wouldn’t somehow make the unemployment rate 0%.

Moreover, DACA citizens pay taxes. If we booted them all, revenue would drop. You know what would drop much lower if we booted all illegals? Consumer spending. DACA or not, any immigrant living here spends money on the economy. We are talking about, what, 20 million people of all nationalities? All of those people spend money on American businesses regardless of whether or not their income is legitimate. Im not highlighting this point to suggest that we should allow illegal immigrants into this country. It just doesn’t make sense to have stricter border policy just because illegal immigration still happens. A fucking wall won’t do jack shit to significantly reduce it. The border policies we have in place already are fine even if they aren’t perfect and even achieving perfection would barely make a difference anyway. Even House Democrats don’t want to make immigration policy more relaxed given that the bipartisan solution to fund the government makes no changes to border policy of the last two years.

Trump’s defiant attitude about the wall in the meeting with Pelosi and Schumer was purely for political points. He is so damn insecure that he tries to act tough just so his supporters watching the exchange would go ape shit seeing him stick it to the democrats. It’s such non sense. Trump wants the wall simply because it is a reflection of how his supporters see him. He expects us all to think he is tough when really it’s painfully obvious that he is a whiny little bitch putting up a front.

It will solve the issue of illegal aliens walking over our border freely.

You misspelled "DACA ILLEGAL ALIENS"
And welfare expenses would also drop.

You know what would drop much lower if we booted all illegals? Consumer spending.

Yup. And Prison costs and Medicaid costs and unreimbursed emergency room costs.
Uh no because a simple wall isn’t going to stop them if they manage to make it the border.

And no, they don’t qualify for medical benefits. Duh.

---------------------------- as far as the Trump WALL goes , what , are you a WALL Builder now Billy . The WALL would be a work in Progress as it stops some and doesn't stop a few . Fine tuning might be required Billy .

Right, 10's of millions of these poor welfare bound illegals have already poured across our southern border and we should do nothing? Another 300 pounds of Meth intercepted at the border this week. More American citizens raped and killed by illegals this week. No wall is needed? You libs can't win this one. :eusa_hand:

So exportation of Hispanics is your real goal, and you see a wall as just a step toward that goal?

^^^ race card fail.

Yet you didn't answer the question. What is your plan for those already here?

I don't respond to race baiting, go march in a protest or whatever you people do. :eusa_hand:

You are a low IQ idiot.

My suggestion is for you to take a week and try to get over a 40-foot wall as your goal.

Truth baffles you all the time so how is this a surprise?

If we can’t have a wall at the border ban all walls for everyone. No exceptions. If you want walls it means you are a bigot. Good luck with building a house. No walls.

George W. Bush proposed amnesty followed by strict enforcement. Everyone here, could stay, if they paid an outrageous fine, and then no one else would be allowed to get the same benefit in the future. The answer was a ton of bricks sent to Congress. Literally people sent bricks to Congress.

Now, calling the DACA folks Citizens is a bit of a stretch. DACA is about delayed enforcement. The idea is that people who have been here for years, who were brought as children, would be granted amnesty to apply for citizenship. You see, there are two ways to become citizens. Be born here, or be born abroad to American Parents, or become naturalized citizens.

Walls don’t work is the funniest one of all. If walls and fences don’t work, why do we spend so much of the Federal Budget on them? For years the White House Fence was considered too low and finally they’re going to make it bigger.

White House getting a bigger, stronger fence | WTOP

Yet, somehow we’re supposed to believe that fences around everything and everyone that is in Washington, only works there. It won’t work. Well in a way you are right. It doesn’t work unless someone is there to catch those coming over. Prisons have walls, Camp David has fences, and the military spends millions on rapidly erecting fences and walls. Yet somehow the walls don’t work. Well, why do they build them?

The Berlin Wall worked. Because it was backed up by guards. But the wall on the border is different. Unlike Berlin, it isn’t intended to keep people in, but keep them from entering illegally.

I was a Combat Engineer in the Army, and I was taught the value of obstacles. No obstacle is ever intended to stop an attack, but it is designed to delay, or deter, an enemy. Forcing them to go where our defenses are strongest. Slowing the access to allow forces to bring them under direct fire, or indirect fire. I’ve worked with Barbed wire, Concertina Wire, and Razor Tape. Razor Tape is the worst. It is so sharp that once you put it out, you can’t pick it up again. It will slice through the gloves. When you want to take that fence down, you have to dig a hole, and bulldoze it into the hole.

To do what it is designed to, a wall must delay, or deter someone seeking to pass the wall. Allowing people to come and stop them.

Walls work when they are backed up by people, which is why the Berlin Wall was so effective. But you know this, or you should. If not then the level of ignorance is astonishing.

Bigotry definitely plays a role
