yeah it is easy to look at the stats and take credit or place blame

Showing a chart is just what the market is doing and does not tell you why!

Gas prices are affected by taxes. Still the big determiner is supply and demand. There are other factors. So there is a lot go on other than who is president.

Other factors such as cost of acquiring and refining crude oi, distribution and marketing.

Any yes gas prices can be affected by geopolitical events

and marketing the gasoline, in addition to state and federal taxes. it also covers profit margins.

So trying to make it political is just the easy way to point to something but does not say it is the cause.
