The federal government needs to shrink tremendously. The federal government should only be in charge of the military and federal infrastructure.
Leave everything else to the states.
You can have high tax, high regulation, free healthcare, free education, universal income, socialist states and there could also be low tax states where everyone has to feed and take care of themselves. Maybe even an anarchist state.
