Do not know if you have been keeping up with financial news. But there are record number of employers filling bankruptcy or are closing locations. Not just stores but even freight companies with long records of doing business. I have believed we are headed for a recession for awhile.

Unemployment rate bumps are typically a trailing indicator of an economy going into recession, especially if the rate jumps more than .5% from a 12 month low.
