John Kelly goes on the record to confirm several disturbing stories about Trump

(CNN) -- John Kelly, the longest-serving White House chief of staff for Donald Trump, offered his harshest criticism yet of the former president in an exclusive statement to CNN.

Kelly set the record straight with on-the-record confirmation of a number of damning stories about statements Trump made behind closed doors attacking US service members and veterans, listing a number of objectionable comments Kelly witnessed Trump make firsthand.

“What can I add that has not already been said?” Kelly said, when asked if he wanted to weigh in on his former boss in light of recent comments made by other former Trump officials. “A person that thinks those who defend their country in uniform, or are shot down or seriously wounded in combat, or spend years being tortured as POWs are all ‘suckers’ because ‘there is nothing in it for them.’ A person that did not want to be seen in the presence of military amputees because ‘it doesn’t look good for me.’ A person who demonstrated open contempt for a Gold Star family – for all Gold Star families – on TV during the 2016 campaign, and rants that our most precious heroes who gave their lives in America’s defense are ‘losers’ and wouldn’t visit their graves in France.

“A person who is not truthful regarding his position on the protection of unborn life, on women, on minorities, on evangelical Christians, on Jews, on working men and women,” Kelly continued. “A person that has no idea what America stands for and has no idea what America is all about. A person who cavalierly suggests that a selfless warrior who has served his country for 40 years in peacetime and war should lose his life for treason – in expectation that someone will take action. A person who admires autocrats and murderous dictators. A person that has nothing but contempt for our democratic institutions, our Constitution, and the rule of law.

“There is nothing more that can be said,” Kelly concluded. “God help us.”

In the statement, Kelly is confirming, on the record, a number of details in a 2020 story in The Atlantic by editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg, including Trump turning to Kelly on Memorial Day 2017, as they stood among those killed in Afghanistan and Iraq in Section 60 at Arlington National Cemetery, and saying, “I don’t get it. What was in it for them?”

"What was in it for them?" Unbelievable! Unconscionable! What do you think?
I think it was one of the many manufactured Trump stories.

Another warmonger being paid to stop Drumpf at all costs. We can’t have another four years of no new wars. WW3 is planned and we aren’t going to let “democracy“ get in the way.
Trump hired Kelly, and now he's being insulted as a warmonger.
Trump hired Mattis.
Trump appointed Milley.

Funny how they were all great guys until they start talking about Donald Trump. Bonus points for the WW3 fear mongering.

I think it was one of the many manufactured Trump stories.
What would be his motivation? By all accounts he's a very well respected successful Marine Corps general who hired by and worked for Trump. Are you just assuming some sinister plot to pay Kelly to make up stories because what he's saying doesn't jibe with your worldview of Trump and that is the only way to make sense of it, or do you have actual evidence that this previously honorable decided to make up shit for giggles?

To take that farther, we have seen how Trump behaved towards Gold Star families and heroes, yet you can't imagine Trump would make disparaging comments about vets. The word "cult" gets thrown around far too freely in this forum, but you're making a great case for it.

Marine General, former Chief Of Staff, John Kelly confirms to CNN all of the worst quotes by Trump dissing the US Military. The question I have for republicans, how can you vote and defend this man?

“Why should I go to that cemetery? It’s filled with losers.” Trump, confirmed by John Kelly

Former White House chief of staff John Kelly confirmed several remarks his former boss, former President Trump...“A person that thinks those who defend their country in uniform, or are shot down or seriously wounded in combat, or spend years being tortured as POWs are all ‘suckers’ because ‘there is nothing in it for them,’” Kelly told CNN in his lengthy statement about Trump. “A person that did not want to be seen in the presence of military amputees because ‘it doesn’t look good for me.’”

Kelly also criticized his former boss in his statement, saying that Trump was not “truthful” in his political positions and is “a person that has no idea what America stands for and has no idea what America is all about.” “A person who admires autocrats and murderous dictators. A person that has nothing but contempt for our democratic institutions, our Constitution, and the rule of law,” Kelly said in his statement. “There is nothing more that can be said,” Kelly added. “God help us.”

Hey Rump Hole, you are too late.

Trump says the military will vote for him. But he lost their support long ago.

Trump treats the armed forces as just another entity he can manipulate for political purposes. That's alienated the troops and the top brass alike.
