Judging A Presidency

I believe Barack Obama will be remembered as the President who failed to protect America from a Russian nuclear attack. I don't believe America will be wiped out but I do believe we will be hit so hard we won't be able to respond to an attack on Israel when that time comes. The Liberal Progressives are the ones who have made America vulnerable enough for this to become possible.

If America were to be hit by Russian nukes on all 4 corners tomorrow - the American people would blame Obama and those who put him in office.

Then the pit the liberal progressives have dug for the GOP would be the one they fall into instead. I wouldn't want to be a liberal progressive in that day. Not in a million years. - Jeri

I think a civil war is more likely to happen in America. I would love to be wrong.

When the dollar ceases to be the global currency, or even as it continues to lose it's importance and commodity prices continue to rise spurring inflation there will be. we can not continue to maintain the level of debt we do and support the percent of the population we do even at todays prices. what happens when they increase.

Funny ....I just asked how universities would approach economic questions....and right in post #31 is a link which answers the question.

don't confuse our liberal friends with facts. facts to a liberal are like kryptonite to superman.

the OP makes some points, I guess, sort of.

Im a hard core Democrat but I just happen to be a engineer and lead operator at a early warning radar system in the south Atlantic. I specialize in this shit, its my job.

the OP is a bit nutty with his Obama makes us weak shit, that's just false but it is his opinion. My opinion is and will continue to be blowing our collective load in Iraq is what is leaving us so weak. Also, this sequester is really hurting a lot of areas that will produce a lot of unknowns come a need to be be at full readiness. Congress is to blame here.

now, the facts. Who ever nukes us, is in for a world of hurt. So, I doubt Russia will have the nerve. Also, I support Russian launches, ALL OF THEM. As a matter of fact Russia has a launch on the 15th, this Monday, A Proton rocket out of Tyuratam, look it up if you must. Its well know that the Russians reentry vehicles are not 100% accurate. Americans reentry vehicles are far superior and always have been. Russian technology is no where near what we bring to the table. It would be a huge mistake for Russia to even think about attacking the mainland US.

you are correct about the US being able to destroy anyone who would dare attack us. But the question is whether obozo would grow some Truman balls and do it.

as to the sequester, you are a victim of media and obama lies-----the sequester did not CUT anything, it merely was a tiny reduction to the amount of growth.

and the hypocrite you elected cut 6th grade tours of the whitehouse but has plenty of money for whitehouse parties and vacations.

obama is LYING to you nole. your avatar give some indication as to why you are so naive that you buy into his lies  Go Gators !!!

Have you noticed how much you hear missile defense brought up nowadays? This is the new push by the defense lobby.

Mutually assured destruction as a nuclear war strategy isn't as profitable to the defense industry as it used to be. The new trick is to sell the idea that MAD need not be 'assured' as long as we're willing to put trillions into the pockets of that defense industry for missile defense,

building the 21st version of the Maginot Line against nuclear attack.

So is nuclear proliferation. Do not think for a moment that we don't see the writing on the wall here. It is nothing more than a grand design to force Israel into surrendering the only thing that has kept her alive! The Samson Option! You are not getting that no matter how many trips Henry takes around the globe! Forgeddddddabouditt!! - Jeri

Well...you're here....

You're time out of the 'nervous hospital'?

If you could comprehend what you read, you would see the 'out' that I left myself. And remember, you are known by the company that you keep.

I recognize the 'out'....someone forgot to lace up the straight jacket.

My children have kid's joke books where the humor is more sophisticated and effective than your pathetic attempts at the medium.

you are dead wrong. I have facts, you have hyperbole.

Let me fill you in. Last week and over the past three weeks my company who has been on the Eastern Missile Range since 1988 received up to date 3 SWO (stop work orders) from the Federal Govt. The first set of cuts laid off the entire Optics department on the Eastern Range, that was about 50 people. The second work order closed 4 out of 6 Charlie band radar instillation's at KSC, we only now have two radars which are very important for a variety of reasons.

A sister contractor (SLRS, space launch recovery systems) laid off 1/4th of their entire work force.

We received word that the USAF will no longer be receiving PMEL equipment(you would have to be a Military guy or gal to know what PMEL is), which means our sensitive measuring equipment needed to calibrate many subsystems wont be fixed and or calibrated until further notice. Basically, I cant calibrate my radar properly now. So, if someone does attempt a launch, first strike. I can not promise the customer a working and well calibrated radar.

Dude, the sequester is effecting a lot of people on the Space Coast. Im overseas right now but if you scan the local papers im sure there are some stories to back me up.

There are just examples in my world. The Western Range is going through similar cuts as well.

I make jokes about you for the same reason that Lord Byron wrote this:

“And if I laugh at any mortal thing, 'Tis that I may not weep”

Hard to accept that there are adults who 'think' the way you do.....

It's what saddles the republic with mistakes like Obama.

1. For a successful Presidency, Perception is the means, Protection is the end.

2. After all, isn't the protection of our nation the reason for choosing one candidate over another? We judge their vision, usually based on their resume, their experience, if they have any in an executive capacity. Or, if none of the above, the vision that he communicates to the rest of us.
If there is another basis for the selection.....it is usually a mistake.

3. And we learned to do this....early on. After all, didn't Chris Rock explain to us that the President is, like, our father, or 'the boss.'
Heck... what kind of father is unable to protect his wife and children?
And a boss cannot husband his business costs us our job. "The president and the first lady are kind of like the mom and the dad of the country," ... Chris Rock Calls Obamas 'Mom and Dad of the Country' During Gun Control Rally in Washington - The Hollywood Reporter

4. What does 'perception' entail?
It means an awareness of the elements of environment; it means being quick, acute, and intuitive; a capacity for comprehension.
But isn't that a description of each and every one of us, to a greater or lesser degree? Well....then why not pick a name out of a hat and be done with the election?

a. In fact, William Buckley, Jr. had pretty much that idea: “I would rather be governed by the first 2000 people in the Manhattan phone book than the entire faculty of Harvard.”

5. What it comes down to, is that we expect our President, carefully chosen, to have the perception to see what is the most advantageous set of actions and courses, to protect our nation from danger, and to steer a course toward success. True?

6. I recall a couple of chapters in James Frazer's "The Golden Bough: A Study in Magic and Religion" in which he explains how primitive societies chose their king, one who would serve as intermediary between the people and the gods...and get plenty of rainfall, good crops. etc. He had to know the correct way to placate the gods, and produce the best outcome. Perception is the means, Protection is the end.
And woe betide the king who didn't do his job.

7. So....how about the 'dad' we chose...and put in charge of our house....the White House?

a. Did he convince you that he had the perception, the correct vision necessary to fix the economy? After all, he said “if I don’t have this done in three years, then there’s going to be a one-term proposition.” Fact Check ? Obama and the ?One-Term Proposition? - ABC News
So....is welfare "getting it done"? Food stamps and government doles instead of employment?
"The civilian labor force declined by 496,000 over the month, and the labor force participation rate decreased by 0.2 percentage point to 63.3 percent." Employment Situation News Release

b. And who would say that 'dad' made the world a better place based on how he's handled the Middle East? Threw out leaders who kept things stable, and favored America, and supported rebels who favor radical Islam in Libya, Egypt, Iran, and now, even in Iraq.
"Al Qaeda in Iraq and Syrian rebel group Jabhat al-Nusra make it official." Al Qaeda in Iraq and Syrian rebel group Jabhat al-Nusra make it official - CSMonitor.com
What can be said about his perception? Is this what he foresaw and wished for....or was a case of incomprehension?

c. How's this for "Perception is the means, Protection is the end,": more nuclear threats in the world today, and our 'dad' proposes to cut down our nuclear weapons?

But when it comes right down to it....perhaps he had the perception to judge the stupidity of those who voted for him....not once, but twice.

LOL. PC still can't get over the fact that the majority of American Voters rejected people with her political philosophy. Watch out for 2014, PC, a lot of people are really fed up with the obstructionism of the far right Teabaggers and wingnuts.

Judging a Presidency

1. What challenges did you face?
2. How did you respond to those challenges?
3. What was your lasting legacy?

FDR did very little for the Army either with its size or weapons and during the 1930s, his defense budgets were cut to the bone. To quote George Marshall's words to FDR in May 1940: "If you don't do something...and do it right away, I don't know what is going to happen to this country". FDR had underestimated the Japanese and the Pearl Harbor attack devastated the American Navy and exposed the president's incompetence.
From "FDR Goes To War," by Folsom and Folsom

You should exhibit more care in claiming that FDR was both liberal and protective of America. Those might be mutually exclusive categories....Due to cuts in military spending through the 30’s as a percentage of the federal budget, the United States was woefully unprepared for war. The US was 17th in the world in military strength, and this ultimately let us into a two-ocean war.

Well researched with information taken from such sources as the Congressional Record, prominent newspapers like the New York Times and scholarly historical works of that period. The book also does not trash FDR in every aspect of his administration as the Folsoms do give him credit for readying America for the conflict after Pearl Harbor by suspending his New Deal mentality for the duration of the war and giving private business free reign to pursue profits and maximizing output.

very true. the usa was very ill prepared for WWII when it happened. We had a very weak army and a hurting economy. what we did have was the capacity to manufacture and the war gave us customers in need. what people forget is during the early stages of the war we ramped up our capacity, shifted from production for civilian needs to military and sole every thing to the allies. FDR had a golden opportunity dumped in his lap. With Bush, it was just the opposite. we were paying and consuming what we produced. so we incurred the debt.

another thing about FDR, while he was credited with starting the entitlements program, his entitlements where a lot different from todays. in FDR's world, you didn't have a check mailed to you which you cashed and then sat on your ass all day. You got a check for work you did. he provided programs that provided jobs. but you went where the work was. you wanted a job you got your but out to Arizona and built a dam or out to Kansas and built a road. it wasn't a free hand out. we built an infrastructure in return. Democrats weren't always the weak willed socialist liberals of todays world. todays liberals have taken a concept that held merit and turned it into a crippling anchor to the country. by turning the programs into free give aways, the have not only created a class of dependent people, they have encouraged it to grow and attracted a class of people who are more than willing to let someone else pay their way

"...FDR, while he was credited with starting the entitlements program, his entitlements where a lot different from todays. "

You're right, Spoony....but let's not give the guy more credit than he deserves.

1. He destroyed any constitutional restrictions due to the enumerated powers when he declared a "Second Bill of Rights."

2. He caused the mortgage meltdown when he created Fannie and Freddie.

3. And, although his programs were not as deleterious as LBJ's....FDR brought the 'camel's nose under the tent.'
The New Deal originated the AFDC program. Until the Great Society, however, AFDC had the exclusive purpose of providing for widows–previously married women who had lost the breadwinner in their homes.
Johnson and Congress quietly changed AFDC qualifications to include any household where there was no male family head present, a shift that made virtually any divorced or single mother of low income eligible for taxpayer money. The incentives of the program made it financially more lucrative not to be married than to be married.

FDR ended the American experiment as it was originally created.
[No...I'm not forgetting about Wilson....]

the obama admin has cut things that will be visible in a failed attempt to prove that the sequester was terrible.

here is the truth. if the budget for a program was going to increase from 100 to 110 this year, the sequester made the increase to 108. If that 2% growth reduction affected your programs I am sorry for you but its the obama admin that chose which programs to cut. I guess they don't like you. did your company support Romney? this could be pay back from the kenyan.

thats about the only thing I have ever agreed with you on. an attack by Iran on Israel is the most likely action that would start another world conflict. the question is what would obozo do if that happened.

right, he reluctantly gave the OK to hit OBL. what else has the fool done? Oh, I forgot, he showed what a badass he was by bowing to the saudi king like a fucking peasant. what an embarrasment this guy is on the international stage.
