Julian Assange has been arrested

He betrayed the principals he claimed to represent when he allowed his site to be used by Russian intelligence, he does not have a friend left in the world except Putin and Trump. Now we get to find out what he got in return for letting himself be used by authoritarians.
sorry but he had the private that obama pardoned do all the dirty work not russia or putin or trump ask why obama let him it go
If Pres.Trump pardons Assange. The Dems will shout out, "See, Pres.Trump pardoned a Russian agent!" Right now, the Dems are declaring that Julian is working for the Russians. And they are waiting for Pres.Trump to pardoned him, so that they will have another excuse to reopen the Russian collusion case. They knows that Pres.Trump wants to pardon Assange. But if he don't pardons Assange. But they are going to kill Assange. But make it look like a Pres.Trump's supporter was the one who has killed him. And then they will be showing the world that who goes against them. That they never will get away from them. There are lots of celebrities that wants to speak out against the Globalist. But once Assange dies. They'll all keep their mouths shut.

Know I think he is smart. Tramp is worried about what Assange will be letting out on his admin. Maybe even his tax returns, do you think he'd blackmail tramp first. I wonder.
if assange had something, he'd have posted it. it's not like he's ever taken a side and played games. he told on anyone and everyone he could.

this fishing for something hidden you just have to dig for is bullshit but hey, it keeps idiots busy and you seem slammed busy these days.

It was inadvertently revealed in a court document last year that he had been charged with an unknown crime or crimes by the Justice Department under President Trump. That was big news, given the same Justice Department under President Barack Obama had declined to charge him, citing the difficult First Amendment issues it could raise given WikiLeaks’s claim to be a journalism organization.

Assange has said he expects to be extradited to the United States, and his lawyer says a U.S. extradition claim was used to arrest him. U.S. authorities have prepared an arrest warrant and extradition papers, according to a U.S. official.

WikiLeaks Founder Julian Assange Arrested: Everything We Know

Tramp had his justice dept. arrest Assange, it doesn't matter what Clinton said, and its a little to frickin late for Hillary, Assange has done his damage on her.

I bet Hillary and Bill are having a very good day today. I'm sure they enjoyed hearing that Assange was arrested.

Hillary and Bill will enjoy the rest of their lives living in comfort and freedom while Assange will be spending years in prison.

Karma works.

You think Hillary is "enjoying" life right now, Dana? I think you underestimate what a power hungry woman Hillary Clinton is! She's been denied the one thing that she REALLY wants in life and she's going to be bitter about that for the rest of her days!

is this the way you remember them both:
He has been after Democrats for a long time, and its about time.
No he hasn't. His inexplicable posting of Russian hacked emails to influence the election for Trump flies in the face of his stated goals and betrayed the only people in America who would have gone to bat for him. It makes no sense for a man supposedly devoted to press freedom to help Putin and Trump.

You mean the e-mails that showed us just how sleazy Hillary Clinton and the DNC were, Occupied? Something the American people SHOULD have known if the main stream media wasn't in their hip pockets for the entire campaign? The reason you on the left hate Assange so much is that he was the one who drew back the curtain and showed everyone just who Hillary Clinton really is!

He showed us nothing. But he showed what a frickin liar tramp is.

Is that why she got removed?

well i suppose you can sell all your secrets to the pakastanis via the DNC and hide it when hacked and you're cool. but if you help someone break a password, jail time. my question is - just how do you help someone break a password?

no dude - try IFRKKNRULZ - that has to be it!

It is the Tramp Admin that is extraditing Assange, not Obamas. I would think it'd be for conspiracy with the Russians in the 2016 campaign, but no it was about 2010 which the Obama admin never went through with.

This is going to be horrific.
Truly. The man is a hero, should be proclaimed as such. That he is hated and persecuted by governments is all the evidence a right thinking person should need.

I like Assange.
Hatred of Assange is more like a partisan type of hate in the US.
"I think it's disgraceful, I think there should be like death penalty or something," Trump said of Assange in 2010.

Did you have a point?

Assange is a commie stooge. You never once saw him publish a story about Putin's crimes. And he aided and abetted Russia's interference in our election.

He is the moral equivalent of someone tattling on a jaywalker while giving a serial murderer a ride to his next victim's house.

Fuck him. I hope he rots in prison for the rest of his miserable life.

the dems will shout out whatever bullshit is needed. trying to NOT do something cause they're going to bitch is counter productive.

This is a breaking news story, more to come...'

Julian Assange has been arrested - CNN

Interesting.

I don't see where the US government going to be able to try Mr. Assange on a dam thing.

Assange isn't an American citizen, with no particular loyalties to our laws. His alleged collaborator, Bradley Manning, is a citizen of America and was a member of the military and would seem to have more responsibility to America. Yet, President Obama gave Manning a pass on it.

Holding a foreign civilian to a higher standard than a US military personnel, just doesn't sound right to me.

Too bad Assange is not charged with conspiracy with the Russians in the 2016 campaign. He won't be if he comes to the US without being charged. Trump won't admit the Russians interfered with the campaign, and he also did as well as his campaign.

Tramp is very worried what Assange might put out on him, could be the Russians are trying to blackmail tramp, Assange is making money from somewhere, and he might of thought that Tramp would of paid him more.

The arrest Thursday of Julian Assange eviscerates all pretense of the rule of law and the rights of a free press. The illegalities, embraced by the Ecuadorian, British and U.S. governments, in the seizure of Assange are ominous. They presage a world where the internal workings, abuses, corruption, lies and crimes, especially war crimes, carried out by corporate states and the global ruling elite will be masked from the public. They presage a world where those with the courage and integrity to expose the misuse of power will be hunted down, tortured, subjected to sham trials and given lifetime prison terms in solitary confinement. They presage an Orwellian dystopia where news is replaced with propaganda, trivia and entertainment. The arrest of Assange, I fear, marks the official beginning of the corporate totalitarianism that will define our lives.

Under what law did Ecuadorian President Lenin Moreno capriciously terminate Julian Assange’s rights of asylum as a political refugee? Under what law did Moreno authorize British police to enter the Ecuadorian Embassy—diplomatically sanctioned sovereign territory—to arrest a naturalized citizen of Ecuador? Under what law did Prime Minister Theresa May order the British police to grab Assange, who has never committed a crime? Under what law did President Donald Trump demand the extradition of Assange, who is not a U.S. citizen and whose news organization is not based in the United States?

I am sure government attorneys are skillfully doing what has become de rigueur for the corporate state, using specious legal arguments to eviscerate enshrined rights by judicial fiat. This is how we have the right to privacy with no privacy. This is how we have “free” elections funded by corporate money, covered by a compliant corporate media and under iron corporate control. This is how we have a legislative process in which corporate lobbyists write the legislation and corporate-indentured politicians vote it into law. This is how we have the right to due process with no due process. This is how we have a government—whose fundamental responsibility is to protect citizens—that orders and carries out the assassination of its own citizens such as the radical cleric Anwar al-Awlaki and his 16-year-old son. This is how we have a press legally permitted to publish classified information and a publisher sitting in jail in Britain awaiting extradition to the United States and a whistleblower, Chelsea Manning, in a jail cell in the United States.

Britain will use as its legal cover for the arrest the extradition request from Washington based on conspiracy charges. This legal argument, in a functioning judiciary, would be thrown out of court. Unfortunately, we no longer have a functioning judiciary. We will soon know if Britain as well lacks one.

Assange was granted asylum in the embassy in 2012 to avoid extradition to Sweden to answer questions about sexual offense allegations that were eventually dropped. Assange and his lawyers always argued that if he was put in Swedish custody he would be extradited to the United States. Once he was granted asylum and Ecuadorian citizenship the British government refused to grant Assange safe passage to the London airport, trapping him in the embassy for seven years as his health steadily deteriorated.

The Trump administration will seek to try Assange on charges that he conspired with Manning in 2010 to steal the Iraq and Afghanistan war logsobtained by WikiLeaks. The half a million internal documents leaked by Manning from the Pentagon and the State Department, along with the 2007 video of U.S. helicopter pilots nonchalantly gunning down Iraqi civilians, including children, and two Reuters journalists, provided copious evidence of the hypocrisy, indiscriminate violence, and routine use of torture, lies, bribery and crude tactics of intimidation by the U.S. government in its foreign relations and wars in the Middle East. Assange and WikiLeaks allowed us to see the inner workings of empire—the most important role of a press—and for this they became empire’s prey.

The Martyrdom of Julian Assange

Democrats loved Wikileaks until.........they exposed 70,000 hacked ( not by Russia ) emails belonging to the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and senior Democratic officials. The emails were copied from the accounts of John Podesta, Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman. The Podesta emails exposed the donation of millions of dollars from Saudi Arabia and Qatar, two of the major funders of Islamic State, to the Clinton Foundation. It exposed the $657,000 that Goldman Sachs paid to Hillary Clinton to give talks, a sum so large it can only be considered a bribe. It exposed Clinton’s repeated mendacity. She was caught in the emails, for example, telling the financial elites that she wanted “open trade and open borders” and believed Wall Street executives were best positioned to manage the economy, a statement that contradicted her campaign statements. It exposed the Clinton campaign’s efforts to influence the Republican primaries to ensure that Trump was the Republican nominee. It exposed Clinton’s advance knowledge of questions in a primary debate. It exposed Clinton as the primary architect of the war in Libya, a war she believed would burnish her credentials as a presidential candidate.

I got to agree that since Manning was allowed to skate, I can't see holding Assange.

But it would be nice to see a deal being worked out, where Assange would do no jail time but would agree to turn state's evidence against those higher on the food chain.

"We look back at the Obama Administration’s decision during his time not to do this, not to try to extradite Assange and charge him because of their concern about how this government action would impugn on freedom of the press. “This is a blow to transparency and a blow to a free press." Gabbard said on Hardball regarding the United States attempt to potentially extradite Assange.
*
Gabbard calls it a “threat to journalists” but also to American citizens. She stresses that this is a message by the Trump Administration to “be quiet, toe the line, otherwise there will be consequences.”
