Killing the 1% Golden Goose

Our golden goose stopped producing golden eggs a long time ago. When your chicken, duck of goose stops producing you kill it, devour it and replace it. There is no shortage of geese available that are ready and willing to produce golden eggs for us. They are lined up and ready. The only thing stopping them is the current crop of greedy geese that have stopped producing, or stopped sharing in what they produce. We are the farmers. If we do not maintain good livestock we are bad farmers. We need to replace our livestock.

The fact that you look at the rich as some kind of farm animal that we can eat says all we need to know you.

Having a larger middle class gives us the ability to create more wealth and increase our gdp. You don't see mexico or some other country without a middle class doing very well, There's a reason for that.

Yeah, right. Unfortunately the statistics show that 90% of millionaires are self made. Trust fund babies normally end up broke within a couple of generations. If they made their wealth by investing in a business, then they didn't get it by inheriting it. You contradicted yourself with that claim.

I doubt you know any rich people. You're just spouting bullshit like most liberals do.

Camp has seen many rich people in comic strips. That's what he bases his opinion on.

You would be surprised at the people you can get to know if you refrain from being such an obvious asshole and control yourself from talking about politics and religion in public. Operate a business that concentrates on providing a product or service to wealthy people in a community like a beach resort surrounded by high dollar golf courses and you are sure to get to know some wealthy people. You may discover that many of them ride around in old pick-up trucks and like to hang out with everyday regular folks and talk about fishing and golf while they sip on cocktails and beer at a beachfront club. If not for the fact you may know them in a business roll, you would never guess they were super rich.

I've known more rich people than you've seen, jerkwad. Maybe if you had some kind of education then you could hire the pool boy instead of being one.
Wealthy people by and large got that way by working very hard. But it doesn't matter if they got that way by buying a lottery ticket or being adopted by Daddy Warbucks. It isn't your business how they got that way and it damn sure is immoral to want to take it from them.

Government regulation.

If 1% of the population does control 40% of the wealth, what do you propose that the government do about that?

And the top 1% also pay approx 37% of all Federal Income Taxes.
National Taxpayers Union - Who Pays Income Taxes?
So what do we do about that? The answer to that, and obviously also to the question above, is a resounding: NOTHING.

Redistribute the wealth so then the poor can pay more taxes. This will give the little guy a liitle more money to spend which will stimulate demand which will put more people to work. It will also save working class republicans from having to stay awake all night worrying about how many taxes the poor multibillionaires have to pay while the poor pay little to none. Now the poor can take on some of the tax burden. It's a win win for all.

The 1% are less intelligent than you think.

If they were possessed of any serious intelligence they'd tune out, turn off, take the money and take a hike. Close the business; lay off the workers and let the real estate sit idle until it's destroyed by the great unwashed and then let it go for taxes.

What's screwing it up is that most businesses of any size are no longer closely held. So it's not the big Atlases that are shrugging; it's moderate sized businesses that has stopped hiring and downsizing if only to get below the magic numbers that multiply your costs through Obamacare. That makes it harder to see without looking closely. Until enough have done it and then liberals will ponder whatever went wrong.

But they won't figure it out unless you tell them.

Please don't.

You don't say?

Jesus H Crist, you got smoked after 1 post...

Yep, Christ said "Blessed are the poor". Not a popular sentiment on this right wing infested forum.

I know, no progressive/left-wingers here, they must be stuck somewhere in a counterclockwise rotation don't cha know...

"Blessed are the wealthy for they make jobs & pay taxes to support yo lazy ass with free stuff"...

Yup, it's getting genuinely Donner Party for the rich, life under Obama.

"It became truly unbearable... we were down to our last Billlion and had to eat the Dressage Horses without any Grey Poupon!"

Democrats have controlled the government for 7 years and the lefties here are still complaining about Republicans. Hillarious.

Really, when did this happen?

Other than the 8 month period when the Democrats had a filibuster proof Senate, the Republicans have had the ability to either help recovery or hinder it.

Guess which they've chosen to do.

It is not the bum in the neighborhood that is the problem, it is the bum in the mansion that is destroying the middle class.

How is anyone living in a mansion destroying America? He's not a "bum," BTW. Most people living in mansions work their tails off. The "bums" are all getting checks from the government.

Never seen so many post made by a person that doesn't know crap about crap. I live in a community surrounded by mansions and super rich people. I know tons of them. I have worked with and for scores of them. I can count the self made rich and the hard workers on one hand. The rest inherited wealth. They invested in business's that require a minimum of work to maintain. Money makes money. Hard work is not required when you start life with a silver spoon.

Another one left out of the will. Waaaaa.

How is their inheritance taking away from you?

Yeah, except for the guy you're taking the money from.

Here's a newsflash .... the money that people earn/inherit/win in a lottery isn't yours (or the government's) for the taking.

If you take from those who have more and give it to those who have less so everyone has a 'fair share', those who do the making will soon tire of doing all the work only to have their earnings taken and will stop working so hard. Where does that leave you?

You people are dense.

"I consider that a Government which means to relieve rapidly peoples from after-war crises should allow free play to private enterprise, should renounce any meddling or restrictive legislation, which may please the Socialist demagogues, but proves, in the end, as experience shows, absolutely ruinous"

Asleep?
Democrats took control of Congress in the 2006 elections. They gained firmer control of Congress in the 2008 election and took the White House. Obama has appointed 2 Supreme Court justices. In 2010 the GOP got control of the House but the Senate remained in Dem hands. In 2012 Obama won re-election and the GOP lost some House seats while the Dems retained control of the Senate.
The GOP has had zero ability to push any agenda whatsoever, and very limited ability to block the Democrats.
And you complain about GOP policies. It shows how truly clueless you are.

The point is not what I inherited or didn't inherit. Nor is it how some rich person who inherited weatlth and or priviiged opportunity effects my life. It's about the claim that "most people living in mansions work their tails off" and the "bums all getttting checks from the government". Most of the folks who live in mansions in my community don't work their tales off. They live very comfortable lives of luxury. Many of them are bums in the truest sense of the word in that they do not work or produce anything during their "summer vacation that last from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Some of them pride themselves in being "beach bums" for 3 or 4 months out of the year. On the otherhand, I have a friend who is 68 years old, collects his SS along with a veterans disability check from injuries sustained in Vietnam. He continues to work at side jobs and work as a handyman doing phsical labor. I do not consider him a bum just because he collects government checks.

No one in their right mind would ever consider a vet a bum ... in any sense of the word.

I have no problem with those who can afford it to 'bum' around to their hearts delight. But just because some do does not mean they all do.

People like this guy are no different in that they do exactly as the rich do, 'bum' around doing as their heart pleases. Oh wait, one difference ... they're using joe taxpayer money to fund their fun.
