Do you agree with my plan

Do dreamers still think that infrastructure related jobs build the economy? I have gotten stuck at various times in the last three years by infrastructure construction on a truck lane on interstate 81. If you ever traveled through western Maryland you have to wonder when they will ever finish the damned infrastructure and likewise Pa. There is no shortage of infrastructure construction at least on the East Coast but it still doesn't translate to real jobs. Only the private sector creates jobs.

I've been though there many times. VA is adding truck lanes south of Lexington down to Roanoke.
West VA is adding lanes to make I 81 three lanes for the entire 25 miles. PA is moving along with the section around Harrisburg. There is a good sized project involving the second interchange( exit 66 US 22/322) as you travel north across the Susquehanna River.
MIght be funded by taxpayers, but work is done by the private sector.
As you say though, the jobs are temporary.

Believe me, there is plenty of work being done in Harrisburg. Each temporary job is being replaced by another project. The only problem being that the city is bankrupt.

Let's just stop the BANKSTERS from controlling out government such that the government gives them TRILLIONS of dollars, shall we?

No?

We're rather play the partisan game instead?

Whatever.

.

Within a decade or two we're going to essentially look like France.

Russia and China are going to be the heaviest players, they're not worried about "how they look".

Good news for some, bad news for others, but that's where we're headed.

Republicans scream "cut taxes and cut waste".

Taxes are at historic lows. Clearly, they need a new "shtick".

And cut waste? They can't actually name anything specific they want cut. Unless it's tied in to "let him die" and "throw grandma under the bus".

And worse, they insist these "sound bytes" are their policies. They aren't policies. They are a collection of parroted words.

How about in 2014=Fix, rebuild and cut waste!!!
-Build our infrastructure...Yes this is mostly a local issue but since our cities rely on the feds...Let's fund it at 2009 levels(another 60 billion) for a decade.
-Lets work to move science and technology forward. The life blood of our serious economy ;) Because the government wastes money on giving everyone welfare or the banks doesn't mean we should be cutting our science programs. That's just plain fucking stupid.

Give choices within education and working on lowering the cost of college. Yes, conservatives the trade school should be a clear path way for our children. ;)

-I'd cut back to 2009 levels for disability, food stamps and welfare. I believe that people should be helped but abled bodied people probably should be advancing themselves. :eusa_whistle: Above is part of my plan to do so...

-Lastly I'd cut aid to the rest of the world and end all the wars. BUILD AMERICA....

America can do better and must. A lot of this can be done at the local level....

Honestly it has nothing to do with conservatives, liberals, or moderates. It has everything to do with electing representatives who are willing to bend here and there to work with those with opposing ideas so that something can be accomplished.

Here is a prime example. The ACA has some big flaws in it, one being the fact that low income workers who are offered insurance at work still cannot afford their share of the premium. Because their employer offers them insurance, they are ineligible for the tax credit if they purchased their insurance on the open exchange. So many of these people will just go without the insurance. Of course there are other issues with the ACA, but we have people who love it as it is or those who just want to repeal the entire thing. What we need are representatives who are willing to fix the shortcomings and see if it is workable after doing so rather than just try to scrap it which is not going to happen.

That is just one example, but there are so many others. Tax reform is a joke because we have people who want to cut rates to all time lows and then we have others who refuse to even discuss legitimate spending cuts. The thing is that just being a moderate doesn't solve all the problems because moderates don't have all the answers. BTW, what truly constitutes one being a moderate? Many who call themselves moderates are actually all over the place picking and choosing whom they agree and disagree with. They just never land in the same camp all the time.

Yes, the American people want compromise...or at least some of them do.

There is only one little problem...

The GOP is unwilling or unable to compromise.

I guess I would categorize a moderate as someone willing to accept half a loaf in order to move forward.

Were we to really get serious about our infrastructure investments, it would vastly increase our employment, and start this nation to seeing some real growth again. Our water systems for our great cities often date back to the early 1900's. Our grid is an antique that is extremely vulnable to both natural and manmade disasters. It should be made to be a distributed grid and brought up to date. Our present delivery sytem for the internet to homes and businesses, when we compare ours to a nation like South Korea, is like comparing a horse drawn buggy to a Tesla. And, unfortunetly, we own the buggy.

South Korea now graduates more engineers than we do. China graduates far more. China is spending far more of their GDP on developing alternative energy sources than we are.

So, what do we need to do?

One. Educate our people. Define where the jobs of the future are, and get our people into training for those jobs.

Two. Spend more on R and D. Like at least ten times as much. Some of it 'blue sky'. That is research into things that have no discernable use at the present. Like the grant for research into a strange type of material called 'semi-conductors' in 1948. Research has always proved to be a bargain, even when it costs to much.

Three. Reform our tax structure so it does not favor the accumlation of vast wealth at the expense of the people creating that wealth. Make it worthwhile for people to do their best, and the people will respond with their best.

Four. Military. Yes, we need a strong military, but do we need to spend more than the next seven or ten nations put together on that military? Hark back to President Eisenhower's warning.

We have tried extreme capitalism "deregulated free markets" and they have been an epic failure. We already know that extreme communism is also an epic failure. That just leaves the moderate center where the best of both are implemented while rejecting the worst. As a nation this country has what it takes to be better than China and South Korea. What it is lacking right now is a willingness to compromise. The Founding Fathers compromised on the Constitution. Why not adopt that precedent as the basis for building a better future?

How about the left take a step towards the right
and the right take a step left.

Shake each others hand and get to work improving this nation.

How about the left move their asses to one of the socialist countries they want to copy and leave the rest of us alone. Now that's a compromise I could live with.

No. We need to have solid democratic politicians like FDR or Clinton back, which gave the US the greatest economies this nation has ever seen. The nation also needs to purge the far right wing fascist plague which is destroying it.

FDR retarded our economy for 12 years, then he engineered us into a war that no one wanted to fight.

Obama seems intent on following his example.

No thanks.

Wrong. They were a stunning success. All the modern conveniences you enjoy today are the result of "extreme capitalism" and deregulated markets.

We already know that extreme communism is also an epic failure. That just leaves the moderate center where the best of both are implemented while rejecting the worst. Because your premise is wrong. Everything good in this world is the result of capitalism. Socialism is the cause of war, poverty, starvation and slavery.

This is so typical of the conservative agenda. That's why you guys are beginning to lose ground. Keep that thinking up and the US will be completely run by the left.

Does that mean that the far right is offering to "move their asses" to somewhere like Somalia as the other half of the compromise?

FUCK "MODERATES"!!!

I am so SICK of "moderates". These are "people" who have no principles. For most every issue, there's a right or wrong. When you "moderate" you're allowing WRONG ideas to get a foothold, making your policies never better than half-right.

Furthermore the bed wetters who are always wrong, never just accept "the deal". They come back for the other half and negate anything that was right about a law or policy.

DEFEAT THE LEFT,
crush their marxist agenda and make them so miserable they jump on rafts and "escape" to places already suffering under their policies such as Cuba and North Korea.

The other half of that compromise is that we tolerate your presence if you don't decide to live under the sort of tyranny your agenda leads too. Just STFU and get a job.

Just so that am I clear about where you stand. Slavery is wrong, right? So the Founding Fathers must have been "moderates" who had "no principles" since they reached a "deal" on the Constitution. Essentially by standing on your "principles" there would have been no United States of America at all. Please feel free to respond and correct any misunderstanding I might have gleaned from what you stated in your post.

Couldn't disagree more. I don't want a government bent on making me "better".

When a liberal says he believes in compromise, he always means that he's in favor of conservatives compromising their ideals so liberals can advance their agenda.

We've "compromised" ourselves all the way into socialism and economic collapse. No more compromises in the direction of socialism. The compromising will be done by the left from now on.

Go back to fixing, repairing and cutting waste republicans. The way you're going will kill your party....

Fixing healthcare, education, etc
Repairing roads and the economy
Cutting welfare and getting people back to work...

All about responsibility

Be the republicans of the 80s and 90s.

DO NOT run as you did in 2008, 2012....We do need the epa, science, tech and infrastructure.

I'm talking about current events and issues. What is it with you bed wetters and slavery anyway? Get the fuck over it already.

They ran "moderates" in 2008, 2012.

I rest my case.

Furthermore, we DON'T need a massive buearucracy preventing businesses from prospering because of bullshit GW scams. FUCK THE EPA.

Science and Tech is not governement's business, and infrastructure can be managed much better by the states.
