The founding fathers believed in what is today referred to as Classical Liberalism, whose beliefs included limited government and free market capitalism.

This is not what Modern Liberalism and present day liberals believe, but you already knew that.

sorry, you are speaking to the old definition of liberal...today...a liberal believes that to achieve "freedom" you need the government to make it possible...meaning...a huge,central government making decisions on the freedom of ordinary citizens...
