It is true what you say. Jews have always been disproportionately represented among the extreme far-leftists - including Marxists and Communists.

Your guess as to why is as good as any, and perhaps it DOES explain why they lean toward socialism. There is a big emphasis in the religion to do mitzvot - and far too many Jews think they are doing that by fighting to hand out all sorts of goodies, let illegals swarm in because they are poor and we can give things to them, even support Palestinians who would kill them if given half the chance because….here’s the word…..they are “oppressed.”

They don’t recognize the COST, and not just monetarily, but in quality of life, that these things cost other people. There’s no free lunch.
