Majority of Republicans do not see value in a higher education

^^ THIS, is what represents dumbing down the USA.

CS or even math degree is not something many oppose. The Marxist pure brainwashing degrees on the other hand... the people come back dumber than they went in.

Of course, one problem is that universities have become leftist churches.

Honestly now, have you ever read a book cover to cover?

Have read 22 books cover to cover so far this year. :) Reading 2 right now. Halfway through Jewish Supremacism and just started the latest Vince Flynn book which is written by Kyle Mills.

Bullshyte sweetie pie. You wouldn't know the truth if it was thrust into your honey pot.

What does the truth have to do with reading books?

How many do you read right now? I usually have up to five at a time. Depends on my moods. I just wish I had time to focus on all of them all the time

They voted for Trump to stop technology from advancing. They think he'll get rid of automation and bring back 19th century jobs for them. They hate higher education because they remember being pissed as young adults when their successful friends from High School came back to visit the town and everybody made a big deal about their visit.

I think I'm pretty close. Why do you hate higher education?

I do not hate "higher education".

Nothing in the op justifies that characterization of the issue.

I have tremendous disagreements with the way higher education in this nation is handled.

Do you care what those are, or are you just here to troll?
I know the conservative spiel on higher education. My suggestion to you, is get more conservatives interested in higher education. Which could be difficult, as Betsy Devos' job is to make it more expensive and difficult for new people to get into higher education. And, of course, there's a conservative insurrection against higher education atm.

Education can be acquired just as easily through personal study and experimentation. In fact that's how my of what is taught in a formal setting was learned to begin with.

Unfortunately we have too many who care more about having the degree than knowing anything they learned from the degree.
We have way more who don't care about having the degree or about knowing anything they would have learned from the degree. Trump can't save those people from robots and desperate foreign laborers.

According to Pew research, By a steep 22-point margin, Republicans now believe American colleges and universities have a net negative effect on the country. In 2010

Most colleges and universities are nothing more than Liberal indoctrination mills. So of course they're detrimental to America. With their preponderance of Liberal/Socialist/Marxist professor and instructors they can not be anything less.

From '95 to 98 I attended a Liberal Arts (heavy on the "Liberal) college. Out of all of my professors, one PhD holder kept her political affiliation and beliefs to herself. She allowed divergent opinion to be discussed and debated in her classroom with retribution and/or retaliation.

I was fortunate to graduate in 2016 from a University that frowned on professors trying to teach their political beliefs. I didn't have a single professor that attempted to influence students in any way, shape, manner, or form to accept or refute any political party. All debate was strictly moderated so as ideas were shared without rancor. As a matter of fact there were a couple of professors that were released because they failed to abide by those standards.

So yes, there are some that actually try to teach instead of steering and molding students into a particular political ideology, be it Left or Right.
I will be sure to tell my doctors, dentists, accountants, and the engineers, and IT professionals that I know, that there is no need to ever attend a college
Maybe you should direct that to the people with worthless degrees and working at a coffee shop. Nobody ever said those degrees weren't needed. We also never said 100% of those degrees equal doctors, engineers etc.

I have a bachelors and a J.D., and I voted for Trump. But if you get a degree in something like gender studies or sociology, you're basically a walking waste or oxygen.

To be fair I have a bachelor's and a JD as well and I tend to think the JD was just as worth less. I remember my legal writing class editing the paper of a student a year ahead of me. It was so grammaticality bad and badly written I still to this day have no clue what he was trying to argue. One paragraph was literally two pages long. Guy is probably a judge now.

3L was just a regurgitation of the previous two years. I seriously think we could do mandatory courses for the bar in one year and have people learn out in the real world and save hundreds of thousands for attorneys everywhere

Wow, the stupid runs deep in that.
I agree, but Trump voters are very proud of that deeply running stupid in them.
You need to get out more and meet real people instead of cartoons.
I have. Not my fault most Trump supporters turn out to be cartoon parodies of themselves.
Obviously you have not, because you think that.
I have. And at this point, I think I can say I know that. Just had dinner with my dad and some of his friends earlier tonight. They briefly parroted Republican nonsense before going back to our unspoken agreement to never talk about politics. Happened moments after they said liberals were inviting sharia law into the country, and I reminded them that it's conservatives who are fighting to codify the same beliefs of sharia into law in this country.

According to Pew research, By a steep 22-point margin, Republicans now believe American colleges and universities have a net negative effect on the country. In 2010, Republicans still said college was a good thing by a 26-point margin. So that’s a complete collapse in GOP support for higher education (self-identified Democrats and independents have always thought college is good by overwhelming, 40-point plus margins, and still do).

No......you are wrong.

How many degrees in 18th century feminist poetry can Star Bucks absorb behind their counter before we have a problem...genius?
I respect an intelligent Barista over a stupid POTUS.

I agree. I know a lot of baristas who were smarter than Obama

It's because so many colleges aren't teaching the skills needed for life. They are more interested in churning out social justice warriors. So, there is no value in that. It's a fucking waste of money to send your kid to college so they can be indoctrinated by radical professors. That is the dumbing down of Americans. For fuck's sake, they teach them that they need safe spaces so they don't hear any opinion not pound into their brains by the professors.

We need to get back to basics.

t's because so many colleges aren't teaching the skills needed for life. BINGO..Practical application is lost.

They are more interested in churning out social justice warriors. For many it produces the opposite effect. This is because their narratives surrounding social justice are lies, never mind out of place.

So, there is no value in that. It's a fucking waste of money to send your kid to college so they can be indoctrinated by radical professors. I try to push my kids into skilled trade school, and/or if a University, medical, technical, useful science or math. I wouldn't mind hotel hospitality either. Two of my kids could pull it off and connections help. Heck an accountant makes bank, but I wouldn't wish that on anyone..HA! Useful stuff, something in demand that pays well and almost enjoyable. If someone is chasing liberal arts.........You're destined to work for the government, and about anyone can do that. Even a business major is worth beans, course depends on the school.

That is the dumbing down of Americans. For fuck's sake, they teach them that they need safe spaces so they don't hear any opinion not pound into their brains by the professors. And this is why I explained in another thread, Indians are better options than Americans in the IT world. They're more efficient and capable without the drama.

We need to get back to basics. And that's why.

As soon as you get enough people college educated and bringing in foreigners to work that may be the only job.

Good goal. I wish I had the time. With work and raising a family I'm lucky if I get a full hour of readiing done.

Course I do waste time on here which probably doesn't help lol
Yep. Watching 3 kids full time is my job right now so its PRETTY STRESSFUL,reading is my quiet peaceful time to unwind and fill my head with knowledge at same time. Mostly cleaning my bookshelves off right now,I believe there is over 200 on there and over 1,000 at library system I intend to read eventually.

I have two degrees one college, one from the lessons of life. learned a lot from both. (still cant spell) if I got to make the rules (with the exception of people who have known what they wanted to be from early on ) kids just out of high school should work for at least 2 years, maybe throw a little travel in if so inclined. some fields sound glamorous, or big money makers. but don't match there skill set. most 18 year olds don't have the life experience to make the best choice, could be the first 2 years should just be general edu study's

Yeah educating Americans and bringing educated foreigners willing to work for the benefit of America is going to force you into a 3rd world sweatshop.

Good fucking grief

That's why I get up an hour early to do some studying before work. Two chapters in the scriptures. Some Spanish and Irish language training. Then usually something else depending on my mood.

You know what will help these kids? Letting them be on mommy and daddy's insurance until they are 26. Spending four years racking up ridiculous amounts of debt for no job prospects. And a few participation trophies for their walls to remember all of those glorious days they didn't win but were there. That's what these kids need.
