I keep hearing this talking point...AR15s aren't good for hunting. This talking point is patently false. It is advanced by people who know nothing about guns or hunting. AR15s are accurate, in a hunting caliber, easy to work on, and simple to customize. They will eventually supplant the bolt action rifle in the same way the bolt action rifle supplanted the lever action rifle and the lever action rifle supplanted the single shot.

Shit for brains, a .223 while not my first pick for deer hunting will do and is inherently a very accurate cartridge. And shot placement is far and away the most important aspect to any type of hunting. It is a wonderful antelope round. AR15s make outstanding hunting rifles that is what they are for, they are sporting rifles.
As far as 30rd mags go they are absolutely necessary for varmit and pest Species like hogs, prairie dogs, coyotes, etc. and the like. Shooting 100 or more prairie dogs in a afternoon is a necessary, the same with hogs shooting 50 or 100 hogs in the night is a necessary.

They need to limit the number of guns a person can own, and no not to a number like 2 or 3, but something reasonable, unless a firearm is considered a collectible.

I think EVERY person that owns a firearm should have to take a safety training course before they can buy one, just like how people have to do it to get a driver's license to drive a car.

The most far out idea I have is, a person who owns a gun should have to pay for a sort of gun insurance. That way if you accidentally shoot someone, or someone steals your gun and commits a crime with it, the insurance will cover the damages.
