Marriage Matters: Consequences of Redefining Marriage

you never told us, are you the butch or the fem? I'm guessing the butch. Short hair, never wear a dress, little or no make up, thats you isn't it? "not that there is anything wrong with that" Seinfeld.

Seriously Fishy, the Internet has free porn. Stop trying to use me to fuel your fantasies. I'm happily married.

If I was looking for porn, believe me, the last place I would look would be to you and your "partner".

I have no fantasies about you two chubby females doing each other :eusa_hand: please do not post pictures-----ever :eusa_hand:

No Fishy, it isn't equal.

Fact. I am legally married in CA.

Fact. My legal marriage is treated differently by the Federal government than yours.

That is not equal, Fishy.

If you don't want me to be legally married, then have the name changed (for everyone) and treat everyone's "civil union" equally. Leave "marriage" to the religions.

I still don't understand why you are under the absurd belief that the federal government should bend to the minority? My state does NOT recognize your marriage. Since the federal government represents my state too - why would they support that which we do not recognize?!?

How many states recognize gay marriage? 5? Hell, your own ultra liberal state of California doesn't even accept it anymore. So why should 5 states rule over the other 45? :cuckoo:

The fact that you don't understand the concept of discrimination against a minority isn't my problem, it's yours.

In 1950, how many states allowed blacks to marry whites? How many had anti-miscegenation laws?

Right...that's why you're obsessed with my appearance. It's unhealthy, seek help.

Good thing mental Heath is now covered.

it's equal protection. We can't treat one group differently without a reason. I'm a convert in that I've come to think there is just no valid reason. However, my church remains free to have one liturgy applicable to only same sex folks. I think there logically should only be one, but we compromised ... for now. But the State doesn't tell churches what liturgies to use.

I agree, they should have equal rights. Thats not what wytchy is all about. she wants the government to force us to accept her lifestyle as normal and equivalent to man/woman marriage.

If to gays want to commit to each other, great. I take no issue with that. But its not a marriage. Its a mutual support contract, a civil union. And, yes, they should have all of the rights that a heterosexual couple have. BUT ITS NOT A MARRIAGE.

The only thing about you that is obsessed about is your ignorance and your arrogance. you are a fringe lesbian. you want to force your agenda on the rest of us, and it will not work.

here's an idea. you leave us alone and we will leave you alone. you and your partner have the same rights that my wife and I have.

But thats not enough is it?

I've made her the same offer repeatedly and she turned me down every time as well.

The federal government represents ALL states. And the overwhelming majority do NOT recognize gay marriage. It's an inconvenient fact which has you pissed off right now because it's the truth.

{First off, "tradition" is not justification for unequal treatment. "Traditionally", voting was for white male landowners. "Traditionally", marriage was restricted to people of the same race. }

No, in this case "tradition" is a manifestation of evolutionary biology.

{Marriage has many traditions.}

Yes, but the one enduring quality - throughout human history and across every culture - is that male and female unite in bonds recognized by the surrounding community, and these include a variety of expectations, duties and obligations.

{If you know, why try and use it as justification?}

It is the rationale. It is an inextricable part of defining marriage. It is not any kind of "justification"; it is the essence of marriage. In most cases, one would not need to refer to this because it is accepted and accords with common sense and reality. However, if one is dealing with radicals and narcissists, one feels the obligation to point this out, even if it is to no avail with these people.....

Can you provide a societal harm in allowing non familial consenting adult gays and lesbians equal access to a civil marriage contract?

Can you provide a harm to gays and lesbians to officially referring to their contract as a Civil Union rather than a marriage?

No, go ahead, do it. It's not like "the gheys" have ever turned down civil unions have we?

But... if you set up a system of Civil Marriage for heterosexuals and Civil Unions for gays, well then you're falling into this little thing we call "separate but equal". You've heard of that, yes?

Still so wrong, as you've been proven many times, Fishy (which is why you keep leaving the thread "for good" three or four times now).

I want my legal marriage (I have a marriage license issued by my state) treated equally under the law. It isn't....but it will be soon. :badgrin::badgrin:

Even if "recognized" it won't fix the guilt you feel as a result of your sin... whether you admit it or not...

So you must support Polygamy...after all, it's VERY "traditional" (Biblical even) and its the epitome of "evolutionary biology". :lol:

Nope, try again....

It has failed as rationale (and got one of the biggest chuckles during the SCOTUS hearing).

There are 40,000 children being raised by gays and lesbians in CA alone. Either way, you simply can't use procreation as justification to deny marriage equality.

Darlin' the only guilt I feel that's related to my sexual orientation is when she only has two or three orgasms in succession.

No Puppy...I'm pointing out, quite rightfully, that you seem to have no concept of what discrimination is. You seem to think that if enough people think gays are icky, that should trump the individual rights of gays and lesbians.

Apparently you've never heard the term "tyranny of the majority".

We don't have the same rights and that has been pointed out time and again. Because of the unconstitutional DOMA, my legal marriage is not treated the same as yours.

I wouldn't expect any less --- but now you are adding a lie to the list of transgressions..
