Maryland vs. Florida Gun Laws

The kid had mental issues and was on serious meds

He went thru a state and federal universal background check, was fingerprinted, got a permit to buy a handgun, registered both guns with the state, waited 7 days to pick it up, had to get handgun certified....TWICE...less that a month ago...

...and it was all useless.
He killed far fewer than in many other mass shootings. If he had a rifle with high capacity magazines many more would be dead. Thank the Maryland assault rifle ban.

He could have bought an AR-15 with the exact same level of scrutiny he went though to get each of the two handguns...the process is exactly the same.

Maryland Compliant AR's

Well from your link;
Williams said investigators believe Katz shot only one gun during the incident, targeting other gamers, and walking past patrons in the restaurant.

Investigators believe...IOW, not a fact. Nine other people were shot.
So was it the lower capacity magazine we can thank for the low death count?

He didn't have a lower capacity...he brought two guns that held 20 rounds combined. That's more than a standard hi-cap magazine with 17.
And he still killed far fewer than typical with mass shootings. Compare to the school shooting and night club shootings also in FL. Seems a rifle with high capacity magazines kills a lot more.

Not because he had less bullets without reloading or less time without resistance. Gun control failure.
