Mitch is coordinating with the Trump people and questions the need for any witnesses. Hell, why doesn't he just assemble the Senate call for the vote. Save a lot time and money. It would not be a fair trial anyway. The jury has already decided. In fact, it was decided before the day the House Judiciary Committee met to consider impeachment. Like Trump said, he could shoot someone on 5th Ave and noting would be done because he's president and immune from laws including the constitution. Don't believe it, just ask him.

Why are more witnesses needed? The house said they have already proven their case, right? If you are saying they havent proven their case and need more witnesses, then are you saying the house made articles of impeachment before they had proof?

Think about it, the dems do not need a 2 to 3 month trial in the middle of the campaign season, where it will take 5 democratic candidates off the campaign trail, including sanders and warren.

Then, if the senate repubs manage to get the bidens in the trial, or at least cast some doubt on them, Biden could be seriously damaged in his campaign.

With sanders and warren not being able to campaign for 2 to 3 months, and to be honest, the senate could drag it to to over 3 months if they wanted to, plus a politically damaged biden, and on top of it, if trump is acquitted, this could all really play into the hands of the trump campaign.
