“You’re Gonna Have a Fucking War”: Mark Milley’s Fight to Stop Trump from Striking Iran
Inside the extraordinary final-days conflict between the former President and his chairman of the Joint Chiefs.

The last time that General Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, spoke with President Donald Trump was on January 3, 2021. The subject of the Sunday-afternoon meeting, at the White House, was Iran’s nuclear program. For the past several months, Milley had been engaged in an alarmed effort to insure that Trump did not embark on a military conflict with Iran as part of his quixotic campaign to overturn the results of the 2020 election and remain in power. The chairman secretly feared that Trump would insist on launching a strike on Iranian interests that could set off a full-blown war.

There were two “nightmare scenarios,” Milley told associates, for the period after the November 3rd election, which resulted in Trump’s defeat but not his concession: one was that Trump would try “to use the military on the streets of America to prevent the legitimate, peaceful transfer of power.” The other was an external crisis involving Iran. It was not public at the time, but Milley believed that the nation had come close—“very close”—to conflict with the Islamic Republic. This dangerous post-election period, Milley said, was all because of Trump’s “Hitler”-like embrace of the “Big Lie” that the election had been stolen from him; Milley feared it was Trump’s “Reichstag moment,” in which, like Adolf Hitler in 1933, he would manufacture a crisis in order to swoop in and rescue the nation from it.

You look like a retard in your avatar.
That is possibly the most pathetic, juvenile, heck, infantile thing I have seen posted in a long while. Get back to us when your voice starts changing and you can't sing soprano anymore. IOW, grow up.

This is trump we are talking about here, the serial liar in chief, and the same guy who actually directed a drone strike on Iran's general, which nearly prompted a real war with Iran, not a made up one that Trump is making up to make Miley look bad.

Gen. Mark Milley reportedly warned Trump not to take military action against Iran after the election.
Milley told Trump he would "have a f---ing war" with Iran if the US struck, a book excerpt says.
The book, by The New Yorker's Susan Glasser and The Times' Peter Baker, comes out next year.

Milley should absolutely be brought up on treason charges.

Neither did TRUMP!, obviously.

Same Trump that "obviously" didn't want an attack on the Congress over his false pretenses?

Right? You are talking about that Trump and think Milley didn't know Trump like you know Trump. :icon_rolleyes:

We know Milley was a piece of shit traitor.

We know that.

You don't know your ass from hole in the ground as proven by your continual support for a genuine treasonous asshole - Donald Trump. Trump has promised Putin he will end NATO and all support for the Ukraine if he's elected.

Combined with his stated goal of turning the USA into an authoritarian dictatorship, and jailing the Democratic leadership immediately upon his election, and his past failed insurrection attempt, that's someone admitting to treason in advance.

Trump invited Putin to invade a NATO country, and said he won't intervene.

Millie should received the Congressional Medal of Freedom for refusing to obey Trump's illegal and unconstitutional orders during his attempted Insurrection.

You're believing somebody who wants to sell a book. TRUMP! gave no indication of wanting to start anything with Iran, so absent evidence, there's no reason to believe it.

Putin waited for Quid Pro Joe to take office before he made his move.

What orders were those again?

A television show which is a fiction, is not a source for anything - even if based on purportedly true events.

You need to learn the difference between fantasy - that your Fearless Leader is the greatest President ever; and the reality that your orange baboon is a liar and a fraud, and was the worst US President in history - bar NONE.

Yes because if Trump has stayed in office, he wouldn't have had to do it. Trump had already held up military aid for more that 6 months using the trump up excuse that he wouldn't release it without an investigation of the Bidens. And Trump had fractured NATO.

Trump was urging Zelensky to "settle" with Putin at their White House press conference, where Zelensky said he felt "no pressure", while looking really pressured.

Trump is now promising to end the war immediately upon his re-election. Putin knows what that means and is now trying to wait out the election, while promoting anti-Biden propaganda and lies, like calling Biden "Quid Pro Joe"

What "quid pro" has Joe given any of these people? You keep calling Biden names but there is not a shred of evidence behind ANY of your allegations about Biden. Be specific.

The country went downhill when we stopped shooting traitors. It's so bad, we should apologize to Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, who would likely be in Biden's cabinet today
