The Millions it Will Cost for President’s Photo Op in Puerto Rico Could Feed Starving Citizens Instead

As the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico recover from devastating natural disasters, Trump has promised to give them a multi-million-dollar photo-op.

While both territories are in the midst of a humanitarian crisis, the U.S. government is receiving heavy criticism for its lack of an adequate response. Not surprisingly, President Trump is at the center of that criticism, as he took to Twitter to call for a boycott of the National Football League, and to call out players who dared to kneel during the National Anthem—a song that has only been played before football games since 2009, when the Department of Defense began “paying for Patriotism” to increase support for war.

Then it finally happened—Trump heard the anger of the public, and he decided it was time to get involved, and to give them what they wanted. He pledged his support to Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and he said he is planning to visit the ravaged territories next week.

A conservative estimate of Trump’s trip to Puerto Rico will be upwards five or six million dollars—hardly a just expense for a photo op.

To be fair, presidents going to disaster sites before the emergency is dealt with is needless and costs more than its worth.

But, pino trump-- He has refused to lift the Jones Act and it has taken him days to take time out from his latest babyish temper tantrum tweet storm. He is not doing his job and is clearly WAY over his bright yellow/orange head.

People in hospitals are not getting dialysis. There have been hospital deaths due to the lack of diesel fuel for generators. And still, idiot trump farts around with his name calling.

Now it seems to be getting worse because (again) trump has not filled certain key positions. He bragged that he's saving so much money by not hiring an unnecessary staff for Melania while hiring a whole slew for Little Miss Daughter Wife who doesn't even have a job.

He is what my dad used to call tits on a pup - utterly useless. He should just send the Play Doh and stay home.

I wonder if the fat bastard will answer about why he lifted the Jones Act for Houston and Florida but not for PR. I wonder if he'll look them in the eye and tell them that business interests would prefer that they starve and die, and that's what matters to him.

Fuck off with the bullshit that no one has been busting their balls in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. FEMA and other organizations have been working their asses off 24/7.

Seriously give your head a shake. Because the truth of the great work these organizations have been doing is getting out despite you left wing whackos trying to pin a failure on Trump by denigrating the awesome effort these people have put forward.

You are disgusting.

You left wing whackos really need to be bitch slapped into a new galaxy.

"FEMA US&R teams are organized under the National Urban Search and Rescue Response System, which partners federal, state and local partner emergency response teams to create 28 US&R task forces. These 28 task forces are located throughout the continental United States and can be activated to provide assistance in survivor rescue, damage assessment, and SAR in a water environment.

The task forces deployed consist of multi-faceted, and cross-trained personnel who service in major functional areas to include: search, rescue, medical, hazardous materials, logistics, and planning. A task force also includes technical specialists, such as physicians, structural engineers, and canine search teams.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the DoD conducted medical evacuations for more than 100 patients from the islands to the continental United States.

The National Guard Bureau (NGB) has more than 2,300 Guard members on the ground in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands taking part in security and support operations. The Air National Guard is focused on transporting food, water, and communications capabilities as well as rapidly increasing airlift into affected areas.

FEMA, working in coordination with federal partners, provided more than 1.5-million meals, 1.1-million liters of water, nearly 300 infant and toddler kits, and nearly 12,000 emergency roofing kits to the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico for distribution to the public since Hurricane Maria’s landfall."

Yes the big fed gubmint that you and Trump so despise is doing its job. No excuse for Trump refusing to lift the Jones Act like he did for Houston and Florida.

Okay. That's better. And see? Its not that hard to tell the truth, now is it?

Fact is however, trump was on top of it when it was Texass and Florida. It has taken him a week to notice PR and US Virgin Islands.

The FEMA spokesperson on a news program stated they were working around the clock but that they did not have the people that trumpery fired. He was a lot more diplomatic thatn that but trump DID fire a lot of people without ever thinking about what that might mean. And, he has not filled those slots. Still.

The buck passed. Pathetic. But plenty of time to tweet about the NFL.

Trump's reasoning? "A lot of people that work in the shipping industry…don’t want the Jones Act lifted."

Fuckin liberals, make up your mind

Fuckin liberals, make up your mind

You believe they have "minds"?

You may as well get one of those mail order ant colonies and try and figure out which one is "the smart one".

Damn. I knew I should have used a really big font for this line because RWNJs are incakpable of reading whats right in front of them.

Bullshit. Absolute a lie that it took him a week. Note the date here liar. He was on it from the get go.

"The president approved an emergency declaration for both the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico earlier this week, unlocking federal resources to the islands. Trump continues to direct federal resources to both the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Maria, as well as to Florida and Texas, which were impacted by Hurricanes Irma and Harvey, respectively."

500 tweets about the NFL since then. 1, maybe 2 about PR. Zero calls for donations. Zero calls saying business interests be damned, lift the Jones Act.
