The truth is that in fields of excellence requirements we are falling behind. There is a reason we have to farm out space launches to private concerns to save face but keep the equity game going. China is going to eat our lunch in space as we keep playing this stupid game. Every other government funded organization building hardware has been affected with massive costs in part because of this.
