Teachers are not trained to be armed protectors. That's what the police are trained for. I trust teachers to educate children. Otherwise they are just ordinary people, and I would never put them in the role of an armed protector. I have taught for 30 years and know teachers well: most of them are not people I would trust with a gun. Just like I don't trust most of you gun nuts with one. Guns are something only professionals should be in control of.
There are ways to educate teachers to manage firearms and active shooter situations.
Most teachers in pilot programs are shocked when they learn what is necessary to engage an active shooter.
They have to completely flip their psyche from nurture and bring back to calm ... To eliminate the target.
It doesn't mean that they are not capable ... And they have been doing very well in the Faster program.
That is a key in any critical situation ... Faster response.
There is nothing you can teach a cop that you cannot teach a teacher.
Your objections are to the firearms and those who desire the ability to defend themselves and their students.
Teachers have been armed in places for quite some time.
You don't see incidents where they lose their mind and shoot the children or lose control of their firearms to a child.
Your fears amount to nothing more than fear ... And fear is no longer an adequate response ...
