In Hebrew, the word " שָׂטָן - śâṭân "

this word means " an opponent; or adversary or to resist or withstand "

this Hebrew word, it is used in the manuscripts early in Hebrew Bible history as describing situations that are not related to " Satan - the devil "

as opposition; or resistance - In Num 22:22 God Himself, stood against { Balaam } as a { SATAN ) adversary - against him. - Balaam

Here in Num 22:22 God Himself - refers to His Own Holy Angels - as a Satan. – Meaning, adversary.

The word Satan simply means an adversary. it is not only used for the Evil Spirits of the devil.

But The Lord God also calls His own Holy angels as the term Satan in regarding God sending the Holy Obedient Angels act as an adversary against Gods Enemies.

In the Old Testament, The Holy angels as well are called as Satan, simply meaning - שׂטן śâṭân / saw-tawn' An opponent; adversary or simply to withstand.

It is not only used for meaning the Evil Spirit of The Devil.

Also in Num 22:32 And the Holy angel of the LORD is called Satan as well - Again.

In other places the Human enemies of Israel in war and conflicts are called as Satan as well.

God does not specifically give a name and identity to the Devil / Satan, who is the active force of the spiritual world of rebellious angel entities who work destruction upon man. -

But rather God associates the working of these evil spirits in their servants and methods by giving a name - labeling them as their physical manifestation of evil and influence

under names such as "

The Serpent - The Dragon - Baal - Beelzebub - or an individual person such as the historical prince of Persia who greatly influenced by spiritualism

or - Baal, Astarte, Asherah, Chemosh, Dagon, Remphan, Moloch, Tammuz, Amon , Chemosh or Dagon - these are the names given depicting evil and service, worship unto the working active force of Satan the adversary
