Now That Ukrainegate Imploded, What’s Next?

Trump asked for a favor. He isn't the first president to do that

He asked for a PERSONAL favor. One he could use to bolster his re-election. THAT has never been done before
Obama asked Putin to wait till after the election, so he could really kiss his ass. What do you call that? On national tv! No wonder what else he asked for. Lol :113:
Medvedev and he was telling him that political realities meant that he wasn't able to work on negotiations until elections were out of the way...because people like YOU would scream

Did he ask for foreign help in getting elected?

Absolutely not

“After failing with the voting machine gambit, the Logan Act, the 25th Amendment, the emoluments clause, the McCabe-Rosenstein faux-coup, the Comey memos farce, the “resistance” efforts outlined by the New York Times anonymous op-ed writer, the campaign finance violations accusations, Stormy, tax returns, whistleblowers, leakers, the Mueller 22 months charade, and now impeachment 2.0, what exactly is the point of impeaching Trump just 13 months before the election?”

The Strategies of Targeting Trump

The point is Democrats are insane and know they can’t win an election so have gone full fascist.

Is that why Republicans are trying to smear Joe Biden? Clearly they are worried he will get the nomination. The scandal in Ukraine has not imploded. It is alive and well as it has exposed Trump for what he is. A authoritarian who will conspire with anyone including foreign countries to win.

Sorry, but as a democrat I can tell you that Biden is toast.
It is not that Hunter Biden clearly was getting paid $50k/month as his cut of US foreign aid given to the Ukraine, but that Biden admitted openly that he personally withheld that US aid until the Ukraine Inspector General was fired, due to a possible investigation into Burisma Holdings and Hunter Biden.
Coat tails can be ignored, but not a vice president committing open blackmail.

Trump is racist, grabs pussies and he's off-color orange. IMPEACH OR BE BEACHED.

Those are the reasons to vote him out of office, not impeach...although I think you should be able to impeach for racism. Trump is not being impeached for those true things about him, but for something else that is completely true...abuse of power. (And, now, obstruction of justice).

You need a cry room, with moral support from people who will lie to you and make you feel better.

I'm not the one that needs support. Toddler Donnie certainly does.

I feel great...Don the Con will be impeached. He'll go down in history with Clinton and Johnson, but I personally think he will go the way of Nixon. He will claim the "deep state" was out to get him and even though he really wanted to "make America great again" the media wouldn't let him. He will, basically, declare bankruptcy and bail.
Tell us more about the crime of accepting gifts, this is fun.

Actually, there are rules for accepting gifts from foreign countries. When the gift is given, the gift is held in an archive while the president is in office, and when he finally leaves, the gifts move from an archive to the presidential library of the president that received the gift. If the president decides that they want to keep the gift, they must purchase it at fair market value. And, there are limits on what a president can and cannot accept......................

The Unusual Gifts Given to U.S. Presidents

As the gifts that U.S. presidents received started to become more extravagant, a rule was enacted to ensure there was no impression of impropriety. The Foreign Gifts and Declarations Act of 1966 was prompted in part by the expensive gifts some Arab kings would bring on their visits, like luxury cars and fine horses, according to Hand. In political culture, “perception becomes reality,” says Hand, and it did not look good to have the president accept something that flashy from a foreign leader. The rule put a limit to the value of a gift a president could accept, with most gifts going directly to the National Archives after being presented. As of January 2014, the limit is currently set at $375.

The gifts of past presidents are located in the National Archives or are transferred to a Presidential Library when he retires. Presidents and other government officials have the option to purchase the gifts they received in office for their market value if they choose, as Hillary Clinton did following her tenure as secretary of state. She chose to purchase the black pearl necklace given to her by Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi in 2012, a gift, priced at $970. But usually, the gifts become a relic of past diplomacy, a little bit of history in the form of a novelty tea infuser or a ceremonial dagger, tucked away and carefully catalogued.

Thanks for the interesting read.
However, the only gifts were the money paid to Hunter Biden.
What Trump was asking for was not a gift, but his legal duty as president, and also what Ukraine law should benefit from.
Which is an investigation to see if there was any wrong doing by Burisma Holdings.
An investigation into wrong doing is NEVER a personal gift, but what all allies expect from each other.

And you have been getting the answer for weeks. Your inability or unwillingness to understand is no one's problem but your own.
Bullshit, that’s why you can’t answer even now.

Okay, so here is where I list the crimes and what he's being impeached for and you say "bullshit" anyway. You can continue to scream "bullshit" all you want but the impeachment will go on regardless.

It is a crime to solicit or accept a thing of value from a foreign government. That is the crime even though one is not needed to impeach. Added to that crime we have the coverup. (Putting the call transcript on a secret server not meant to store unclassified phone transcripts, the text messages between officials) and we have the abuse of power. ("I want you to do is a favor though") and to add to it all will be obstruction of justice with the ignoring of subpoenas.

Articles of impeachment have not been drafted. This is an inquiry to see if violations, in fact, did occur. If they didn't, there will be no impeachment. Why so worried?
Hilarious. Shitforbrains thinks it’s against the law for a President to accept gifts.
What gift is that? A $500k job for his son to work big oil in Ukraine?

Tell us the law about servers. What is it? Can they be in bathrooms?

Transcripts are public, give us the quotes that show a crime.
You’re just a pathetic parrot for Soros.

Ah, so we are devolving into name calling because I replied, truthfully, to your demands? You responded exactly as I predicted you would.

Here's an idea for you...wait it out. After the house votes to impeach, you'll get a trial and you will get to see, first hand, what the articles will be and how they are prosecuted and defended.

So far, republicans suck at defending.

GOP maps out impeachment defense amid messaging stumbles

Since a president is elected by the democratic republic, impeachment is almost always wrong.
It is only excusable when there is a smoking gun.
There is no smoking gun.
The voters will not be happy if congress tries to illegally impeach.
And even the senate will stop any possible impeachment.
The fiasco will only make Trump get even more votes.
Yep, another Leftard runs away when asked for facts.

History has already decided that it was those who impeached Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton who looked bad.
Impeachment is never right or even legal unless there is a smoking gun, because Congress is never impartial and can never conduct a fair trial.

The situations are not similar. Trump isn't being impeached for his fucking porn stars (Clinton) or his behavior at his rallies (Johnson) but for abusing the power of his office (Nixon). Just because he is more brazen about it does not make it less egregious.

I disagree.
It was Biden who illegally used his office to gain unearned income for his son, and illegally held up foreign aid to the Ukraine, in order to get the Inspector General of the Ukraine to be illegally fired, over a possible investigation of Burisma Holdings.
For Trump to ask for this investigation to be restarted, is not illegal.
It is not an abuse of office, but exactly what the office of president requires.
It is Congress that is in violation of the law, in a clear attempt to obstruct justice by attempting to stop the investigation of Burisma Holdings.
Or do you think there is any possible reason at all to fire anyone attempting to investigate Burisma Holdings?
I don't.
I think not only that it is essential to investigate Burisma Holdings, but any attempt to impeach Trump will REQUIRE an open and through investigation of Burisma Holdings.
Which makes an impeachment hearing perfect for Trump.
I don't know who on his team thought of this, but it is brilliant.
An impeachment hearing is the perfect way to end Biden;s candidacy.
Biden is toast once Congress starts any investigation over Trump's call to the Ukraine.

Coat tails can be ignored, but not a vice president committing open blackmail.

Baloney, the Feds do it all the time with foreign aid as well as funds to the States. Politicians can't do it to enrich themselves or solicit aid in an election.

There is no such thing as an illegal impeachment. Over half the country supports the inquiry. And they have the "smoking gun". Trump gave it to them himself when he released the notes of the call.

Wrong.
Impeachment is almost always illegal because Congress is full of partisan politicians, so can NEVER be an impartial court of law. For the impeachment inquiry to be legal, almost all of Congress would have to recuse themselves due to conflict of interests.

You have no idea how many support what.
You have polls conducted on estimates.
And NO, the call by Trump to the president of the Ukraine is NOT a smoking gun because that was a legal part of the activities of the president of the US.
An investigation of Burisma Holdings and the past suspicious action of Joe Biden demanding the Inspector General of the Ukraine be fired, requires investigation.
It would only be illegal is Trump had NOT asked the leader of the Ukraine to investigate such obviously suspicious activity.
It is blocking investigations that is illegal obstruction of justice.
Starting an investigation can NEVER be illegal.
Care to explain how starting a legal investigation could ever be illegal?

You need a cry room, with moral support from people who will lie to you and make you feel better.

What gift did Trump receive? Why are you terrified to back that up?
It's illegal for him to solicit. Receipt isn't required.

Are you actually going to try to claim that the US can never investigate illegal activities by US citizens in other countries, even when they include a Vice President admitting he illegally withheld foreign aid in order to illegally get an Inspector General fired?

You need a cry room, with moral support from people who will lie to you and make you feel better.

It was in the asking, not receiving. If I told you to kill my wife or you wouldn't get something you were seeking from me but you don't do it, am I guilty of a crime?

Except that what Trump was asking for was not illegal.
He was asking for a legal investigation into the suspicious actions by Burisma Holdings and Joe Biden threatening foreign aid in order to get the Ukrainian Inspector General fired.
It is not Trump who did anything remotely illegal there.
And an impeachment inquiry will prove that, forcing Biden out of the race.
Which is really, really dumb, because now that Bernie had the heart problem, Joe Biden was going to be my top choice.
Looks like I may have to vote for Jill Stein again.

Coat tails can be ignored, but not a vice president committing open blackmail.

Baloney, the Feds do it all the time with foreign aid as well as funds to the States. Politicians can't do it to enrich themselves or solicit aid in an election.

A president, Sec. of State, etc., can negotiate legal concessions from other countries, by withholding aid.
But NOT a Vice President.
He does not have that authority.
And clearly getting the Ukrainian Inspector General fired, was not for US interests, but for the interests of Burisma Holdings instead.
And that makes it illegal as well.

Okay, so here is where I list the crimes and what he's being impeached for and you say "bullshit" anyway. You can continue to scream "bullshit" all you want but the impeachment will go on regardless.

I'm predisposed to being against impeachment, but Trump broke the law for personal gain. That's worse then Reagan in Iran Contra and even worse than Slick.

David Leonhart has an op ed in todays NTY about why the dems should just do it. And it has nothing to do with the crime or seriousness. Rather, it's that the gop impeached Clinton over Lewinsky and the maj disapproved of Clinton's behavior, but his job approval actually went up. BUT the gop didn't suffer any negative electoral effect. They won the WH and kept congress (and mostly) the senate until W burned down the economy … to say nothing of Iraq.

Trump asking for a legal investigation into Burisma Holdings and the firing of the Ukrainian Inspector General, is not a all illegal, nor it is for personal gain.
Whether or not it also does benefit Trump by harming his opponent, is totally irrelevant.
That facts are it is the sworn duty of the President to investigate suspicious actions by all US citizens, and what the Bidens did is HIGHLY suspicious. Clearly Hunter Biden added nothing to Burisma Holding that would warrant him being paid over $50k/month and it is illegal for Joe Biden to demand the Ukrainian Inspector General be fired.

Trump asked for a favor. He isn't the first president to do that

Absolutely not
Oh bullshit, he had the media in his hand and he knew it. He asked for a major favor. And you know it. Quit being a hack.

The Ukraine scandal and investigation into Trump's criminal behavior has not imploded. It has simply been receiving less attention since the Trump abandonment of the Kurds took priority in the news.

Let's not change the subject.
The Trump call became necessary and legal because the Bidens likely broke multiple laws that Trump was required to investigate.
Don't forget that it is preventing investigations that is obstruction of justice, and conducting investigations is never illegal.

As for the Kurds, I think the Allies abused them after WWI, but that has nothing to do with Trump.
It was illegal for any US troops to even ever be in Syria unless Assad requested them.
If the Kurds are our allies, then why did the CIA capture their leader Ocalan, and hand him over to Turkey, for execution?

If you think the Transcript is a smoking gun, you are smoking something that used to be illegal in most states....the democrats are hiding every aspect of the coup....if it was legitimate it would be out in the open, you moron......

Relax! They will vote when the inquiry is done. Have you never watched a single courtroom drama in your life? There is a suspected crime, an investigation then charges and a trial. We are at the investigation/inquiry part. The charges will be the full house vote on impeachment articles then it moves to the Senate trial. If your guy is innocent, you've got nothing to worry about. (You should worry)

Congress is all partisan politicians, and as such can not possibly conduct a fair inquiry or trial.
If congressmen were remotely fair, they would all have to recuse themselves.
The fact none of them will, proves they are not following legal principles.

Okay so, Biden had no right to threaten another country? Right?

The office of vice president is largely ceremonial, and has few actually duties or authorized actions.
The few duties a vice president does have, are succession if the president is unable, and under Article I, Section 3 of the Constitution, the vice president serves as president of the Senate and is allowed to vote on legislation when necessary to break a tie.
As president of the Senate, the vice president is assigned by the 12th Amendment to preside over the joint session of Congress in which the votes of the Electoral College are counted and reported.

So it can not be legal for Joe Biden to have withheld aid to the Ukraine for any reason.
However, to withhold that aid in order to help his son avoid investigation, is far more criminal, if true.

Obama asked Putin to wait till after the election, so he could really kiss his ass. What do you call that? On national tv! No wonder what else he asked for. Lol :113:

Tell you what. I’ve been asking for weeks what’s the crime and the evidence.

You be the first to answer.

Your non answer answers your question.
And you have been getting the answer for weeks. Your inability or unwillingness to understand is no one's problem but your own.
Is that why you can't answer the question?
Catch up to the thread, sugar, I answered.
He released the entire transcript, you have him on nothing that you stated. Also the new York Times wrote an article about Hunters sweet deal he got because of his daddy. So it was already known before Trump had the phone call. Trump was just seeing if it was true. You have absolutely nothing.

No, sweetheart, he did not. You obviously did not read the phone memo because the ellipsis represent missing parts. The call was 33 minutes long, the notes read out, only 11. But, the "smoking gun" was already in the notes... "I want you to do is a favor though"...

Doing a favor is NOT a smoking gun because the favor was to investigate whether Burisma holding and Joe Biden withholding aid, had violated any laws. That is not an illegal favor, but one that is a required duty of any president.
