NO! NO! NO! We were told that the President was sending NO BODY!!!!

Sending former heads of state isn't proper respect. I certainly understand a head of state not attending but to not include anyone out of your admin is very tacky.

The Thatcher funeral is a massively state-subsidized raging socialist funeral. So why aren't Thatcher fans here protesting such an insult to her legacy? A true Thatcher funeral should have been entirely private-sector financed.

It is sorta wierd Biden's not going, though. I really doubt W is carrying any secret torch for Obama, because the Brits loath the guy for the big lie with Blair over Iraq. John Major is in BushSr's Carlyle Group. George Mitchell helped broker Major's peace deal with the IRA, but Major got pissed what Slick had Gary Adams over for Guinness and corned beef on St. Patty's day.

Still, today's gop views Thatcher much differently that even the Brits, and the woman torched off some nasty race riots over there. Still, I thought the VPs job was to attend funerals for family friends you aren't gonna miss.

Even after this kind of disaster, the kind that normally brings the nation together, obama's new normal is division.

Let's take a moment to think about this. Back up the time machine to 2001. Many Americans were disgruntled about the election because of the questionable results in Florida - right or wrong, it doesn't matter - they were still upset and were certainly unsure about this new President. But eight months laters, when we were attacked, those same people who were so angry just a few months earlier, put aside those differences and stood behind their President giving him an 85% approval rating.

Fast forward to April 15, 2013...where's the same graciousness from the right when its a president THEY don't like? And yet you want to blame Obama for your behavior? Take some responsibility for your own actions and quit blaming others. I thought that's what liberals were supposed to do. And here you are engaging in the same behavior you claim to abhor.

Obama has spent the past four and a half years dividing this country, pitting right against left and left against right; referred to Republicans as the enemy; ran a 'blame Bush' meme for years, etc. Kind of hard to get behind him when he clearly holds so much disdain for so many. What ever happened to him being a uniter?

We don't have a lot of Americans in the US anymore. Half the country perhaps. Americans don't get terrorized. We just don't. We get monumentally pissed off, but not terrorized. That's the province of the new liberal American who say "We'll do anything you say, just don't hurt us."

I don't think he's done a terrific job of bringing the sides together. But when one side's idea of "bringing us together" is "do it our way or we'll hold our breath till we turn purple" then Obama doesn't bear all the responsibility. IMHO - he bears about 20% of it.

Some Brits hate her, some Brits tolerated her, and some Brits loved her. Either way, she was Prime Minister for a very long term, and regardless of her politics she deserves respect and recognition for her accomplishments. When Ronald Reagan died, Britain sent many dignitaries to pay their last respects. I'm a bit upset about this as there is no reason the White House could not send Biden.

Of course, if we had sent Biden, it's likely that a bunch of nutters on the right would have complained about the cost.
