Obama Ditches Thatcher Funeral

Yet another tacky, unstatesmanlike performance from The Won. Neither he nor any active member of his administration will attend Thatcher's funeral. It's a state occasion, given that the Queen is participating. So much for our "special relationship".

Maybe he'll send the family an ipod with some of his speeches as a consolation prize.

I'll also note that the terrorist attack in Benghazi didn't prevent Obama from flying off to Las Vegas for a fundraiser the next day.

Friends and allies of Baroness Thatcher expressed 'surprise and disappointment' last night as it emerged President Obama is not planning to send any serving member of his administration to her funeral.

Whitehall sources have revealed that the US delegation at tomorrow's service in St Paul's Cathedral will be led by two Reagan era secretaries of state: James Baker and George Shultz.

Though President Obama himself had not been expected to attend, there had been speculation that he would be represented either by Vice President Joe Biden or wife Michelle. However, the Obama administration had said it would not be attending Thatcher's funeral before the Boston bombings

Other world leaders, including Canada's Stephen Harper, Mario Monti of Italy and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, are attending the service in person.

President Obama paid tribute to Lady Thatcher's towering achievements when her death was announced last week.

But a US embassy spokesman confirmed that no serving member of his administration would be present to pay their last respects, citing a busy week in US domestic politics.

Former US vice president Dick Cheney and ex-secretary of state Henry Kissinger will attend the funeral, Downing Street said today...

Low class all the way. But hey it's the punk from Chicago.

Even after this kind of disaster, the kind that normally brings the nation together, obama's new normal is division.

You'd think the Brits would be expressing sympathy over the marathon bombing instead of whining over who is and isn't attending Thatcher's funeral.

You don't know what you are talking about.

I was following a live feed on the BBC yesterday with their coverage of the bombing. Every head of State in the United Kingdom expressed their horror and condolences.

Even the Mayor of London expressed his sympathy.

Bush has kept a fairly low profile and has not tried to upstage Obama.

Biden should attend...but our tacky President won't do that.

um you guys didnt even invite him to your big party in florida.

No one wants him arround is why he is lying low.

Kinda like the people in the UK not liking thatcher

Let's take a moment to think about this. Back up the time machine to 2001. Many Americans were disgruntled about the election because of the questionable results in Florida - right or wrong, it doesn't matter - they were still upset and were certainly unsure about this new President. But eight months laters, when we were attacked, those same people who were so angry just a few months earlier, put aside those differences and stood behind their President giving him an 85% approval rating.

Fast forward to April 15, 2013...where's the same graciousness from the right when its a president THEY don't like? And yet you want to blame Obama for your behavior? Take some responsibility for your own actions and quit blaming others. I thought that's what liberals were supposed to do. And here you are engaging in the same behavior you claim to abhor.

Bush is retired from politics. He attends no political functions. As a very classy man, he would not criticize obama for his many failures.

Too bad we can't bring him back and have a presidential do-over. obama has been that much of a failure.

Obama names former Secretaries of State to attend Thatcher funeral

The White House on Monday said that former Secretaries of State George Schultz and James Baker would lead the president's delegation to former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's funeral.

Schultz served under President Reagan, while Baker was White House chief of staff. Baker was later named Secretary of State during the George H.W. Bush administration.

Obama was not expected to attend the funeral at any given point in time. The disgusting snub is that he refused to send anyone in the current administration.

And he shows himself to the world what a little prick he is. What a scumbucket and embarrassment to America.

White House snub to Thatcher: Obama won't send envoy to funeral - and leaves it to her old allies from the Reagan era

President Obama will not send a member of his administration to the funeral

Instead, Reagan's former Secretary of State George Shultz, a key ally of Baroness Thatcher, will attend

Leaders from all over the world will be in attendance at the large-scale commemoration on Wednesday
