Obama Orders New Efficiency for Big Trucks

Congress has the authority to pass their own emission standards
We're not talking about congress here, sport.

Try to keep up.

It is a separation of powers and checks and balance

If the Congress doesn't like the new EPA standards, they can pass their own
Why don't they?
If the President is overstepping his authority, the Supreme Court can overrule him
The subject is the president ruling by edict, not congress passing laws.

Dismissed.

It is within his powers as President. Congress is free to overrule him

The President has had the power to establish emission standards for 40 years. Under what grounds do you wish to strip that power from President Obama?

You have to be more stupid than Forest Gump, to really believe that CO2, one of the top 4 most natural common atmospheric gases in nature is now a pollutant to be controlled under eco-tard stupidity.

The justification of this is absolute idiocy as well.

90% of the "green-house" effect, is from WATER. Let's ban the production of water, if we are to follow eco-tard logic.

Only 10% of the Green-House effect is due to CO2.

And of all the CO2 produce year around, only 3.5% of it is produced by man.

So +95% of CO2 is natural, and only 10% of the Green-House effect is due to CO2.... and yet the tiny insignificant fraction of the whole deal that is human created..... that tiny sliver is going to wipe out the entire planet, because we're dumb as rocks eco-tards, and screaming and shouting flailing your arms in the air, that the sky is falling, makes it all true.

Idiots. You guys claim to be about science, and you are the most scientifically illiterate bunch of ignoramuses I've ever met.
Please provide at least one link to a scientific study that claims any of what you just said. This is from the US government:
Recent climate changes, however, cannot be explained by natural causes alone. Research indicates that natural causes are very unlikely to explain most observed warming, especially warming since the mid-20th century. Rather, human activities can very likely explain most of that warming.

But that's all just unconstitutional big government job-killing regulatory Obama Kenyan Marxist Muslim Jewish Hollywood Liberal media Fascism, right?

There are millions of more cars today running 24/7 all over the globe than ever before, coupled with deforestation costing the planet an area of rainforest the size of Panama each year. You also spend billions of dollars to cut down natural hemp and burn it. Squadrons of SUVs full of Federal agents running all over the country; all over the world for that matter, cutting down tall hemp plants that are taking in CO2 and burning them, releasing more CO2 into the atmosphere. You've been at this failed endeavor for 75 years despite the fact that this whole time, industrial hemp could have been making our transportation fuel and paper.
The feasibility of converting Cannabis sat... [Bioresour Technol. 2010] - PubMed - NCBI

And let's not forget all of the wonderful toxic oil spills and the enormous fields of plastic in the oceans.

So the super-educated scientific Conservative Christian approach is to just keep adding to the problem and making more plastic that ends up in the ocean, right? When you cut down a tree, the stored CO2 is released into the environment. When you cut down a forest, a lot more CO2 is released and there are thousands of fewer trees to take in that CO2. When you additionally burn fossil fuels, CO2 is directly released into the atmosphere and again, there are thousands of fewer trees to take it all in. So you have a global situation where CO2 is constantly being released into the atmosphere and not enough vegetation to take it all in.

Hemp can make gasoline, electricity and plastic without fossil fuels, and hemp can make paper and construction materials without global deforestation, and hemp takes in CO2 as it is growing. This means that the petroleum and coal and the trees stay in the ground, not releasing more CO2 into the atmosphere, while hemp is free to grow all over the world again and take in CO2 from the atmosphere. But we can't do that because big government Fascists want an excuse to kick in our doors and take our homes and property, and "Marihuana" is the perfect excuse to do that because it grows in every state.

Keep cheering on your big government Fascist drug war and unconstitutional USAPATRIOT Act NSA spying. You've done a really great job so far, Republicans.

This is a terrible move. This will drastically increase the cost of shipping goods, and will harm every aspect of the economy.

Also, killing off coal power plants, which is the cheapest source of electricity in the country, will drastically drive up power prices.

FALSE:

1. Coal power plants don't have to be "killed off" entirely, only hybridized with solar thermal to reduce coal usage per year: http://www.usmessageboard.com/energy/338907-first-hyrbid-solar-thermal-power-plant-in-florida.html

Which has limited use, and limited generation ability, which I already proved in a prior post.

2. Increasing efficiency in cars means burning fuels with platinum particulates found in cumbersome [drag producing/low milege producing] smog systems.

The catalytic converters BigOil engineered to suit themselves with the cooperation of auto manufacturers [which they are and always have been deeply in bed with] in the smog systems were to burn unused fuel AFTER the combustion stroke of the car. Genius! Instead of using that particulate platinum introduction to improve efficiency to push the car forward AND reduce smog at the same time, they strapped the car down with more pulleys, pumps, reburners and the like AFTER the important part of combustion. Result? less smog and less fuel efficiency which means you have to burn MORE gas to get from point A to point B.

If Obama's "improve efficiency" laws mean strapping trucks down with more smog equipment, that means requiring more fuel to be burned and therefore less efficiency. Take the platinum particulates [larger chunks won't do, the smaller the platinum particles the better they work to completely combust fuels] and make the smog reduction happen in the combustion chamber. Not the exhaust system. Less fuel burned, less smog produced.

BigOil should hang its head in shame.

You are full of it. Having worked in the automotive industry, and gotten first hand information with those working on the performance of engines, nothing you say is even remotely true, or even logical.

You don't know what you are talking about. That's all there is too it. I've seen morons selling 'free-energy' devices that had better smoke screens for their crap, than what you just spewed on this forum.

Obama has a pen and a phone.............Congress and the Constitution need not apply to Obama and the Dems.

Again, abuse of power without Congressional Consent.

You really don't understand how the executive branch and our government in general works, do you?

The EPA has been mandated by SCOTUS to regulate greenhouse gasses. If anything Obama has been remiss in getting this done.

Congress doesn't get to tell the EPA or FBI or any department how to enforce laws that are already on the books.

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/19/u...w-rules-for-cutting-truck-pollution.html?_r=1

The new regulations, to be drafted by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Transportation Department by March 2015 and completed a year later so they are in place before Mr. Obama leaves office, are the latest in a series of actions intended to cut back on greenhouse gases without the sort of comprehensive legislation the president failed to push through Congress in his first term.

The new regulation would primarily affect the country’s 600 coal-fired power plants, like this one in Texas, and could ultimately shutter hundreds of them.E.P.A. Staff Struggling to Create Pollution RuleFEB. 4, 2014
The limits on greenhouse gas pollution from trucks would combine with previous rules requiring passenger cars and light trucks to burn fuel more efficiently and pending rules to limit the carbon emissions of power plants. Cumulatively, experts said the à la carte approach should enable Mr. Obama to meet his target of cutting carbon pollution in the United States by 17 percent from 2005 levels by 2020. But they said he would still be far short of his goal of an 80 percent reduction by 2050.

Again, abuse of power without Congressional Consent.

Should have been done years ago, especially in the aftermath of 9-11.

Anything that makes us less dependent on imported oil, especially oil originating in the ME, is in our long-term national interest.

You do not like regulation, I get that, but someone has to make sure your grandchildren can breath the air and drink the water because it is clear conservatives would not care if they have to live in filth.

We have no problem with regulations. We do, however, have problems with excessive, job-killing regulations.

wow, the left now loves a President making orders up outside of Congress

How about thaT

USSC doesn't order around the congress or regulatory agencies either.

Damn, that separation of powers thing is terribly difficult for progressives to wrap their heads around.

Hey Fool. Why don't you investigate how much one of your boys used executive order, then get back to us. Fool!

Conservatives seem almost eager to trash the environment just to spite "tree-huggers" and seem to despise any efforts to keep the planet livable for future generations. You do not like regulation, I get that, but someone has to make sure your grandchildren can breath the air and drink the water because it is clear conservatives would not care if they have to live in filth.
This is about the president ruling by decree, fool.

CO2 isn't a pollutant, moron.

It IS, when exhaled by a liberal.

Politicians are so arrogant.

Do they really think just passing a law, or in this case writing an order, is going to magically develop technology? Trucks are going to get better gas mileage just because the government says so.

Elect me to Congress. Ill pass a law saying that car manufactures must produce flying cars by 2015.

Do you honestly believe that the technology is going to magically be there just because i pass a law?

Why are people so foolish?

When someone (you know who) is mighty enough to stop the rising of the oceans, creating vehicles that can run from Seattle to Miami on a thimbleful of gas (or better yet, ethylalcohol, produced from government subsidized corn), is child's play.

Also, killing off coal power plants, which is the cheapest source of electricity in the country, will drastically drive up power prices.

What is killing off the coal fired plants is that the grandfathered dirty plants have hit their lifespan, and natural gas and wind are both cheaper to install and maintain than even dirty coal.

Horseshit. New EPA regulations that make upgrading existing plants too expensive to be economical are the reason. Even brand new coal plants using the latest technology are unable to comply with the new regulations. Whenever government regulations drive up the cost of doing business to the point of forcing everyone into bankruptcy, sleazy assed liars like you will always claim it was "just a matter of economics."

Breathtaking how the progressives are just fine with the president acting like Emperor, as long as it meshes with their political sensitivities.

You can only imagine the seething conniption fit they would be throwing, if someone like Bush unilaterally declared something like gay marriage to be illegal by presidential proclamation.

You could probably hear the howling form orbit.

Just wait until a Republican is elected President who repeals all these whacko regulations.

Well, at the present rate of increasing popularity of the GOP and it's teabagger leaders, that would be sometime in the 23rd century.

Oh, right, because Obama and the Dims are so popular as a result of the stunning success of Obamacare and their economic policies.

Breathtaking how you 'Conservatives' howl and whine like kicked pups every time that the President does anything at all. We have known for a long time how to make the big diesels more efficient and cleaner, so it is time that we do that.

Really? So you think the reason we haven't is just the result of some sinister plot by the oil companies?
