Often criticized? He had one sentence about how his pet solutions are EHRs (which also happen to be a pet interest of the Obama administration) and HSAs. That was the only reference to health policy, as near as I can tell--he made no references to Obamacare.

Is there a secret version of this speech that only rightwingers can see?

Must be Affirmative Action, after all he admitted he was not a good student and yet he got into college.

Let me illustrate how this works. Dr Carter, being an Adventist, believes in a historical interpretation of Revelation that tells us that the judgement if God has already started. If I were to take the PC approach to this I would be forced to pretend to respect him by not saying anything about how stupid that is, and not pointing out all the evidence that contradicts it.

On the other hand, I can actually respect him and still sit down with him to show him all the flaws in what his church teaches. I would even be able to call them stupid right to his face, and out mutual respect for would prevent either of us from taking insult from the fact that we disagree.

PC is not about respect, it is about avoiding confrontation.

Actually, what he said was that he didn't like to read, but his mother pushing him to read and submit book reports developed the skill, improved his mind and vocabulary, and instilled curiosity and a love of learning in him.

The story of his mother is fascinating...single mother of what, 8 kids? With a third grade education...who turned off the tv, worked like a dog to support them, made her kids do book reports that she couldn't read...then went on to receive her doctorate.
