Obamas Choose Elite Private School for Kids

Why is everything right and left to you?

is there some other way to look at it?

Willow is a right winger or plays one on this message board.

This board is divided between the right and the left, those are the facts.

and Andrew if you want to know how this conversation derailed look on page 10 post #148 from Willow. That'll give you some insight.

When losing an argument on common sense. abortion gets thrown out for discussion as a way to distract from a debate the right knows they can't win.

yes! and I slept in a Holiday Inn last night too.. and I did it! Willow did it! ask Willow!

so you're not actually on this forum to have meaningful and intelligent conversation and interaction with people of opposing viewpoints to try to learn and understand why they feel and think the way they do?! good to know. I can now stop responding to your drivel. :clap2:

Pro-abortion vs. anti-abortion?
Pro-life vs. pro-choice?

Left and right do not define every issue, you know?

okay...that's true. I know there are people on either side who take a stance that isn't the majority.

but I don't know anyone who is pro abortion per se. I'm pro-choice but I don't advocate abortion as a form of birth control and think it should be restricted after the 12th week to cases where the mother's life is in danger or the baby has tragic and extensive health complications which would impact that child's quality of life.

That's slightly contradictory, don't you think? If you don't advocate abortion as a form of birth control, wouldn't you be in favor of banning the procedure on all cases except in the case of the mother's life being in danger or the child's quality of life being at risk? I could see the argument that women who were raped should be allowed the procedure in the first trimester. But isn't it common sense that if you were raped, you find a morning after pill?

I am way late to a very long thread so I'll just throw out a few random musings. (yes I read the whole thing, lol)

A few places where homeschooled kids might get skills in socialisation.
-neighborhood kids/friends
-extended family
-church
-boy scouts/girl scouts
-4H club
-little league/soccer team/bowling/ice skating/community pool
-summer camp
-joining a kids club at a local museum/zoo

For those who are adamantly against public funds for religious schools I hope you are at least consistent and also oppose research grants, student grants, scholarships and federal and state financial aid for...
-Baylor University
-St. John's University
-Holy Cross
-Pepperdine University
-Notre Dame
-Hundreds of other religious colleges and universitys

And one last random thought. Isn't it cool how the best colleges and universitys in the world are in America where, unlike grade school and High School, the government control is weaker and compitition is the rule? I think so.

Also, the YMCA, the Boys and Girls Club, Community Plays (my friend home schools her 5 kids and they are ALWAYS in our town's plays!) Other home schooled families, craft clubs and such.
