The IRS BOLOing anti-tax groups makes perfect sense.
Let's face it, if you hate paying your share of maintaining a civil society, then of course-----of course you're going to be the most likely to lie, cheat and steal in order to force your neighbors to pay for the services you yourself enjoy but-----but the IRS targeting the word "Marijuana" is [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ejvcd-JeVCQ"]One Toke Over The Line[/ame].

Democrats on the House Ways and Means Committee released 15 lists of terms that the IRS agency used and has provided to congressional investigators. Some of the lists, which evolved over time, used the terms
“Progressive” and
“Tea Party” and others including
“Medical Marijuana,”
”Occupied Territory Advocacy,”
”Healthcare legislation,”
”Newspaper Entities” and
“Paying National Debt.”

I have to wonder what Darrell Issa was toking when he forgot to tell us the IRS was targeting "progressive" groups and "occupy" groups?

We do not have a civil society.

In a civil society people use turn signals for turns and lane changes!

He wasn't toking anything. From an earlier post of mine (because you morons keep trying to make the IRS scandal go away I'll just repost it).

Perjury charges will probably come down the shoot as well if they appoint a special prosecutor. And that move appears very likely.

A November 2010 version of the list obtained by National Review Online, however, suggests that while the list did contain the word “progressive,” screeners were in fact instructed to treat “progressive” groups differently from “tea party” groups.

:eusa_whistle:

Whereas screeners were merely alerted that a designation of 501(c)(3) status “may not be appropriate” for applications containing the word ”progressive” – 501(c)(3) organizations are prohibited from conducting any political activities – they were told to send those of tea-party groups off IRS higher-ups for further scrutiny.

That means the applications of progressive groups could be approved on the spot by line agents, while those of tea-party groups could not.

:eusa_whistle:

Furthermore, the November 2010 list noted that tea-party cases were “currently being coordinated with EOT,” which stands for Exempt Organizations Technical, a group of tax lawyers in Washington, D.C.

:eusa_whistle:

Those of progressive groups were not.

however, the targeting of conservative groups largely focused on applicants for 501(c)(4) “social welfare organization” status, which shields groups from having to disclose their donors. The scrutinized “progressive” applications were not required to be sent to a special irs unit for additional review — but tea party and conservative applications were subjected to extra scrutiny by 12 different working groups within the irs. Tea party groups were also marked for extra scrutiny in the same document.
