There is now a concern among the media that the Trump Administration is actively planting stories which they can then deny and point to as examples of "fake news" in the MSM.

One recent example is the idea of using the National Guard to round up illegal immigrants. A draft Memo of how to do this was "leaked" to the press, from Homeland Security, which went with the story and the Trump Administration denied they ever considered such a thing.

What the press were able to learn was that the Administration had asked someone to draft such a memo, but no such idea was ever considered. So why ask for a Memo?

Apparently the Memo was deliberately leaked so the press would make a big to do about it and the Administration could say - "You see, Folks. The media lies, they can't be trusted, this is just another example".

It's one thing to not like the stories being written, but quite another to deliberately try to undermine the credibility of the press by planting fake stories.

The media has no obligation to be objective towards Trump. This country was founded in the midst of biased media. Most media is OPINION anyway. Opinion is what freedom of the press is all about.

btw, both Trump and the media's trustworthiness are in the 30's in the polls. That's hardly a case for Trump claiming any high ground, or you claiming it for him.
