Opposition Builds to Insensitive Will Ferrell Movie Mocking Ronald Reagan's Dementia

So we've had a movie about the assassination of Dubya, this idea about mocking Reagan's Alzheimer's. Y'know, we should check to see if there are any female Republican lawmakers who have been raped. Holy crap, I'll bet Hollywood could REALLY make THAT one funny.

But, freedom of expression, they should be allowed to do it. Show us how hateful and ugly you are. Very instructive.
.

Do you think that your insipid moralizing is any different from the insipid whining of lefties that you've dedicated your online life to complaining about?

It looks like this movie has been shut down by you guys. Doesn't that make you proud, PC warrior?
Oh, where to begin.

Not a conservative, left-leaning independent, so your "you guys" stuff is wrong.

Also, I've more than once defended their right to produce the movie.

And, I would never try to issue "consequences" as the PC Police would. And do.

Dang. And you were feeling so good about yourself.
.

When I say "you guys", I'm not talking about partisan politics, I'm talking about those who feed on moral outrage. Your posts in this thread put you plainly into that category - and whether or not you personally have called for this movie to be shut down is irrelevant, since you clearly agree with their fake-outrage moral superiority nonsense.

I still feel pretty good about myself.
I'm just being consistent. It ain't that tough, I swear.
.

Ok, if you're being so "consistent", I'd love for you to explain the differences between this movie being shut down by your moral-outrage comrades in arms and, say, a racist NBA owner losing his team.

Because of course there are differences, right?
Nope!

From post 74: "It would be the right wing version of PC to try to shut this movie down."

Yet ANOTHER swing and a miss!

Ol' Mac has the PC Police reduced to drama queens, again.

Damn I'm good.

I've gotta ask me for my autograph!

Plus, it's helpful to know who the nastiest, most hateful people are, and who agrees with them - someone who would mock an Alzheimer's victim is pretty fuckin' nasty and hateful, and those who would support it are the same.

The idea that someone would actually do this is so ugly that I took the time to confirm the story is true. Amazing, and yet another vivid example of our culture in decay.

That stuff is good to know. Freedom of expression is very instructive.
.

Drama queen, indeed.
Ironic, since the PC Police are more than happy to shut down opposing speech. I'll keep defending freedom of expression, even that with which I disagree.

But it's nice to know that I've got the PC Police all pissy. Again.
.

You don't get it, do you?

Fake moral superiority is no different than calling for something to be shut down. It's still emotional nonsense.

You're outraged at a movie that you haven't seen, and don't know anything about, other than a single-line premise.

I'm merely making observations.

I'm not trying to shut anything down.

I'm not trying to shut anyone up.

I'm not trying to shout anyone down.

I'm not putting up barriers so people can't get to an event.

I'm not trying to punish anyone for their expression.

I'm ENCOURAGING expression.

No doubt you don't see that large and glaring distinction, but there it is.
.

Look at the outrage based on nothing.

Now that we've had the PC police swoop in on Will Ferrel.....and convince him to not do something that he would never even have considered doing, we will be treated to a chorus of "the people have spoken" by the nitwits who stand poised to be outraged at any moment.

He was more than "considering" it, he was producing it.

But the right-wing PC police just couldn't stand the idea that anyone would insult Saint Reagan.

Do you know what "it" is? I don't. All we have is the crazed musings of outraged nutbags.

I've not looked into it deeply....but I don't buy the story as its being told.
Why would anyone believe that Will Ferrel would produce a film that mocks Alzheimer's? The guy isn't an idiot.

No, you're just using your emotional outrage to convince yourself of your own moral superiority, and the inferiority of those who disagree with you. But the great distinction you think exists is only in your head.

Most of the people you accuse of being the "PC police" are just doing that same thing.

Please support your claims. First, name the members of the PC police who are posting here at the USMB. Then, cite an instance where they have taken action to discourage expression.

Thanks.

Wow, I'm really in your head.

Amazing, you see that, but somehow don't see the times I made it clear it's their right to produce the movie whether I like it or not.

The distorted perceptions of hardcore partisan ideologues. Always a fascinating amateur psychological / sociological / anthropological study.

Every person you have ever labeled "PC" here has also stated that people have the right to do and say that which has gotten them into hot water. Right?

Still in your heads.

I think the very idea of this movie is hateful, ugly, nasty and sadly indicative of what has become of the Regressive Left.

And I would absolutely defend their right to produce it, because I'm a strong defender of freedom of expression, even if I disagree with the sentiment.

I can certainly understand how someone like you would have such significant problems with both ends of that equation.

You folks constantly prove my point for me. Constantly.
