Petraeus now under consideration for Secretary of State?

I seriously doubt Trump wants his nominee for Secretary of State being grilled about the unauthorized passing of highly sensitive classified information, seeing as he got a lot of mileage and votes out of that very issue.

"Because you'd be in jail."
You may be right, but on the other hand, Petraeus is probably the best choice of any so far mentioned in terms of talent and intelligence and would do a very good job before Congress. Petraeus confided in the woman he was having an affair with and when it came out he didn't try to deny it or cover it up, but confessed, apologized and accepted his punishment with dignity. Probably thousands of military officers and Congress members have confided what they shouldn't have to spouses or lovers.

As you say, if Trump does nominate Petraeus he will take a lot of heat for it from Clinton supporters, but he will be taking heat from them no matter what he does, so if he trusts Petraeus not to make this mistake again, Petraeus would be perhaps the best choice for the job.

Considering that Sec. State is supposed to be the nation's top diplomat, how do you think it's going to look to other countries if our top diplomat is someone who has already been known to let slip classified information? Do you think other countries would REALLY trust Petraeus?

And the difference between him and Clinton is that he was charged, tried and convicted. Hillary hasn't even been charged yet. And apparently, Trump isn't going to pursue charges anymore.

Didn't he commit some crimes of the kind Hillary Clinton was accused of?
He committed the crimes Hillary committed.
No, he didn't. He confided some classified information to the woman he was having an affair with.
Hillary confided classified info to unauthorized individuals...some who were alleged fellow carpet munchers.
Hillary leaked classified information to hundreds, if not thousands, of people she had no reason to trust. Petraeus confided in one person he had reason to trust. Hillary lied about it and involved her staff, the Justice Department and probably the WH in an attempted cover up of her crimes. Petraeus confessed, apologized and accepted his punishment with dignity.

Since the left so applauded Mrs. Rodham-Clinton/Lewinsky's stance on pissing away America's secrets they surely put their hands together for this appointment - or admit their hypocrisy.

who applauded Hillary Clinton?

Clinton was never even charged with anything.

lol You can't mean you think anyone trusted Clinton!

Of course they would trust Petraeus because the leaders of other countries have probably confided in their spouses or lovers things they shouldn't have.

And that fact needs to be investigated.

Just because Trump isn't pursuing charges doesn't mean the FBI won't. If they do, about all Trump can do is 1) pardon Hillary, or 2) ask the DOJ not to prosecute. I am not sure if either one would happen.

Patreus purposly gave that info to his book writing whore! It was nothing like clintons email.

And he had hand written notebooks . Not just some email sharing .

And he got probabtion. Ohhhh big deal!

So............it's okay for Trump to drop charges against her, when he said that one of his first actions was to get a special attorney to look into her actions and pursue criminal charges? It was one of his campaign planks, as well as one of his comments at the national debate.

And no............after what Comey said about the whole matter, I highly doubt that the FBI or the DOJ is going to go after her unless Trump tells them to.

The FBI is part of the Justice Department and Jeff Sessions will be the new AG, so it makes no sense to consider what happened under the Obama Justice Department. Congress is going to continue its investigations of Clinton and the cover up by the Obama Justice Department and perhaps the WH, and it will be up to Jeff Sessions whether to prosecute.

Is there nobody better than Petraeus? He made a big mistake that I think should rule him out of the very high position.

Patreus is a bad move. He attacked Hillary for security violations only to pick someone convicted of the same thing for his Cabinet?!

BAD move, IF he does it.
