Trump was talking about halting Immigration from Syria UNTIL we had a better way of vetting people, telling who is who, etc . which only makes sense in the face of the violence that was happening in France around that time.

An elected official's first priority is to represent and protect the interest of the people who elected him, AKA citizens of the United states, (no, not just white ones, but americans of all races) . Dropping the concern for safety for Americans over hand wringing of how SOON we should let refugees in when potentially there could be ISIS mixed in is a complete dereliction of duty. Its not about Americans being "afraid" as you all like to taunt, Its about elected officials doing the F**ing job they were elected to do. Unless you have a head filled with quick set plaster, its a very easy concept to understand.

There are many home grown criminals, lazy people , lunatics etc . to go around but the wonderful thing about legal immigration is you get to pick and choose the people you can let into the country. The number one responsibility of those in charge of this policy is to make sure those immigrants are people who demonstrate, a SKILL, and a DESIRE TO BE AN AMERICAN, dont HATE AMERICA, dont HAVE A DISTAIN FOR WESTERN CIVILIZATION, and have SOMETHING POSITIVE TO ADD, to society.

Typically in the case of Refugees, its a really nice thing to do, and I can really feel that, but If I'm an elected official, I dont take chances with my citizens life in doing so.
