Police officer fired for apprehending suspect

It wouldn't have happened had he just pulled over instead of trying to flee. The cop that let the dog go was also not following protocol but, none of that would have happened if he had just pulled his rig over and stopped.
It also wouldn't of happened if the mutant officer hadn't decided to act like an assclown. Thankfully and rightfully he's been let go. Unfortunately, now taxpayers will have to foot the bill for whatever payout this guy gets. It could of ended with a criminal going to jail now its going to end with a criminal getting paid all because some moron couldn't control himself.

Well we don't expect criminals to do what they should do we? Otherwise they wouldn't be criminals. We should be able to rely on the police doing what they should though.

Correct, that’s why we have guns and dogs.

And releasing those dogs on apprehended suspects is the wrong thing that will ultimately cost tax payers money.
Which never would have happened if the asshat would have just pulled over the first time instead of running.

yeah. that thug tried it in a small town with some good ole boys and found out how far he would get.
So now the town will find out how far the guy's lawyers get, for their employee sicking the dog on the man that was stopped by and surrendering to the State Police. Just because they fired the guy only limit liability for future acts, as no longer employed, but does not limit liability for the actions of the employee, while still on the job. Looks like the guy and his lawyers suing the town, are probably going to see a big payday.

How so? It is not legal or ethical for a law enforcement officer to sick a police dog on a suspect, already surrendered, standing hands on his head, following instructions of other law enforcement already on scene and having affected the stop of the suspect. The office was terminated after local official made investigation of the incident. The terminated officer may face charges. It does not appear the terminated officer's possibly criminal actions paid off.

Reports are the guy who broke the law has already hired a lawyer for a civil lawsuit.

I do not blame him. My dog could cause deadly or figuring injury at the very least. He is out of the hospital, but I do not know the extent of his injuries, or psychologic trauma of having an attack dog sicked on, while surrendering and cooperating with state police, at the time of the late arriving local k-9 officer's attack with his dog.

Exhibit A why black drivers are reluctant to pull over. I could have started a seperate thread but it helps explain this mans actions also.

‘We’ve made a mistake’: Frisco police mistakenly pull over family headed to a basketball tournament with guns drawn

First off the officer had NO justification for running the plates. They were simply racially profiled. One wrong move and someone could have been killed.

One stopped over a mudflap and this family stopped because of a careless officer with zero regards for the people's rights.

Follow up and some troubling issues here.

Baer, according to the documents, said he also told Speakman, "The review board had convened, and everything appeared that the deployment was within policy and training guidelines."

Policy and training is to release a dog on someone with their hands up surrendering?

The police say the officer wasn't fired for setting his dog on someone surrendering but for lying.

The reason former officer Ryan Speakman was terminated from the Circleville, Ohio, Police Department last week is because he allegedly lied to his superiors about whom he shared confidential details of the incident with, according to the newly released documents.

Now I have to say this is still a positive thing, an officer getting fired for lying.

It sounds like the officer didn't have the mental ability to be an officer to start with.

The documents, released by the Circleville city law director in response to a public records request from ABC News, indicate Speakman was an emotional wreck following the police dog mauling of 23-year-old Jadarrius Rose and was repeatedly crying at work. He was also upset a local newspaper published the initial report of his involvement in the July 4 arrest.

Circleville Police Chief Shawn Baer disclosed in a July 25 written report that at one point Speakman came to him "crying and very upset," concerned that he was going to take away his K-9 partner, Serge -- a 4-year-old Belgian Malinois Shepherd mix.
