The only thing the left has ever wanted - is somebody else's shit.

I have never seen you post something that couldn't be printed on a bumper sticker. Do you have in depth thoughts about economics and the world?

That was the result of capitalism.

Do you believe that without capitalism the industrial revolution wouldn't have happened? o_O
Exactly.

So technology would have just stopped due to humans not using the right economic system?
That's right. People invent things because they expect to make a profit, and for no other reason.

Inventions were profitable before the concept of capitalism. How did technology get as far as it did without capitalism? Do you really think intellectual curiosity that leads to discovery would have just stopped? This belief is extremely bizarre to me.

Which would explain why sick people the world over prefer to travel to Cuba, North Korea, Venezuela and Canada than the USA

Right?

How far did it get before capitalism? Technology in 1750 AD wasn't much more advanced than technology in the year 300 AD. Technology would have advanced at a crawl without capitalism.

Inventions were not that profitable before capitalism because there was no protection for intellectual property.

Right?

I'm simply suggesting that humanity would have continued to advance technologically without capitalism.

For real?

Anyway, I guess I kind of thought technology exploded because of more people and better communication. The more connected people become the quicker ideas can be shared. That results in faster technological progression.

Better communication was the result of capitalism, not the cause of it. More people were also the result of capitalism since the enclosure movement led to a massive increase in agricultural productivity.

You'd be completely fucking wrong in the trillions column, you should like Krugman

The Internet was a Government (solves all problems) solution.

It's my opinion that the left wing is not an opponent of capitalism. What do you think?

What I think doesn't matter. What exists is an economic system which has a public sector and a private sector; a a system which has been pretty successful for centuries.

We've had ups and downs, bull and bear markets, wars and peace, and until January of 2017 a good ride with some serious hiccups since the late 18th Century. What we face today is a nation divided and probably more divided than at any other time in our history.

This thread, and the posts it generated, is an example of what is wrong with our country.

In any political party you're going to have splits. The Democrat party majority of course would never be for the end of capitalism.

There are factions within it that would prefer some type of socialism--but they would never have the support in their own party to get to that point. As the majority of the Republican party are moderates and respect U.S. Supreme court decisiions on Roe V Wade and gay marriage, there is a faction within the party that will continue to fight against it, and will never get anything done.

Within both parties there are moderates--(the majority) & then the left and right wing of both parties which are the minority of both parties.

They want to end capitalism and they want complete control over society..... any group that wants to tell you how much soda you can buy, what kind of toilet you can have... will eventually not only tell you what you can do in your bedroom, you will have to ask a government apparatchik before you do it......

Your poll is useless. As a card carrying liberal, there isn’t a choice I would tick.

32 people have voted and only 6 of them are liberals. The opinions of the 26 non-liberals who voted are moot because they don’t have a clue what liberals want.

23 idiots said liberals want communism. Their stupidity knows no bounds.

Tax Cut Economics is pure ignorance that benefits those with the most capital, the most.

I think in general the right wing is more ignorant than the left. This thread has shifted my perspective somewhat, though. It's closer than I thought.

What is the left correct about?

Completely unchecked capitalism does not work for ordinary people. It eats itself and becomes destructive to the comfort of everyday people.
Wrong. Unchecked capitalism produced the greatest increase in the standard of living for the common man ever seen.

The industrial revolution didn't hurt. ;)

Right, which was caused by "unchecked capitalism," not government
