Poll: Majority of Democrats and Republicans support Medicare for all

The GOP had their chance and blew it. Screaming FREEDOM and LIBERTY and TYRANNY and SOCIALISM all day doesn't actually get anything DONE. They had the ball in their hands and dropped it, so they can't complain about where we're now going.

And what did the Democrats do when they had the ball?

They did SOMETHING. Turns out it was crap, but then the GOP couldn't come up with an alternative. As we know.

All we get from the GOP is chanting. FREEDOM. LIBERTY. SOCIALISM. TYRANNY.

Words aren't good enough. You have to actually DO something. You didn't, so here it comes.
.

Bankruptcy for all!
.
Uh, guy, most countries with single payer spend 8% of their GDP on health care and get better results than we do paying 17% of our GDP on it.

Medicare for all would save us money, as it would remove things like investor payouts and CEO salaries and marketing expenses.
And all the hospitals and clinics would go bankrupt because Medicare refuses to pay for anything and reimbursements are pennies.
There are all kinds of tweaks that can be made. One would be a whole new cottage industry of entry-level preventive and diagnostic walk-in clinics.

We would definitely have to increase and re-construct reimbursement schedules.

We just have to THINK a little bit. But that appears to be a lost art.

So here comes real Single Payer.
.

Single payer would be just like Commie Care. It never addressed the problems of cost.

If we are to make any change, we can't do it the Democrat way and say "Here, somebody else pay for it."

The first step is to analyze how costs got so out of control in the first place, make a list of them, then execute each problem one at a time.

Now, this would take some guts to actually call problems, problems, particularly on the Democrat side which caused most of them. So until we can get to that point, everything else is fruitless.
The problem for the GOP is that it completely whiffed.

We were told for eight years that the GOP had a better plan. Turns out that was a lie.

So if we end up with Single Payer, the GOP will have paved the way.

They can't blame the Democrats for that.
.

They can't blame the party that Fd up the system even worse?

When Trump ran he said the first step was to get rid of Commie Care. The Democrats stopped him. What do you want Trump to do about that? You can't put a new tire on a car until you take the old one off.

So by your own admission having government takeover healthcare was a bad idea, and now the solution is more government?

Apparently the majority of Americans are worthless, shiftless nutjobs who are dependent upon drugs.

Let's build big shiny institutions for all the people who depend upon others to take care of them. They will get the best of care and they will be protected.

The rest of us will pay for our own.

You just keep pointing the finger. Take responsibility for the FACT that you promised us for eight years that you had a better plan. You didn't. It was a lie.

Do you give the Dems passes for lying? Nope.

You thought that doing nothing was better. It sure was easier. No work needed. Just lay there.

Okay.

The problem is, simply because the GOP is as power and money hungry as the Democrats does not make a valid argument for this program.

Besides, we already have Medicare for all. Just wait until you reach the minimum age requirement and you're in.

As a few posters have commented, solve the cost problem and then solve the issue of government being in charge of your health and life.

It was the biggest giveaway to private sector insurance companies ever.

Medicare for all would save us money, as it would remove things like investor payouts and CEO salaries and marketing expenses.

It was estimated that Medicare for all would cost about 33 trillion dollars for ten years. That's 3.3 trillion dollars a year. Our budget is like 4.1 trillion dollars a year, so you'd be talking about almost doubling our budget which we are already going into massive debt for.

The ACA was a pig.

I support, as opposed to Single Payer, expanding the current Medicare - Medicare Supplement - Medicare Advantage public/private system to all, with some tweaks. I've gone into great detail why, all over the place.

Those kinds of estimates always come in about 40% low as well. So that 3.3 trillion would actually be 4.62 trillion. All unadjusted for inflation.

most docs won't even accept it and the wait time for those that do is very long.
i cant agree with that....im on Medicare and i have the same wait times i had before i had it...
well that's because you were on ACA and waited long to get in. not surprising at all.
wrong as usual, which is not surprising at all....was not on the ACA....jc stumbles once again.....

Without a doubt. It would probably run us more like 50 trillion in ten years. You tell everybody they are covered under Medicare, and see how many people run to the doctor for every pain and scratch they incur.

Oh come on. Even in here, every time I asked for specifics on the "plan", I was mocked.

Well, keep blaming the other guys, here it comes.
