porn ban NC

No fan of porn............ but NC has gone too far

Bill bans commuters sold from accessing porn. Computers must have porn block and a fine by customers who try to remove it from computers.

what happened to common sense middle ground and free speech???

Don't porn sites already have blocks on them now and require ID and pay? Now computers have to block them? A lot of people will be buying out of state or online. What purpose are they achieving? What next, blocks on wifi and cable to prevent access to sites? What will they block after porn?

slippery slop

legally it should fail in US-SC
Its actually a South Carolina state House member
The bill has zero chance of getting out of committee.
The issue is these holier than thou Christian rightists who have nothing better to do than act like polar opposites of extreme left wingers.
Its all about control.
Years ago when SC had a lottery and we here in NC did not, a county Sheriff claimed he would arrest anyone who went to SC to buy a lottery ticket.
He actually had the blessing of local politicians. Of course this never went anywhere.
The DA in the county actually used quotes from the Bible to justify this nonsense.
If memory serves me wright, there were some people arrested in NC for operating a currier service that would buy SC lottery tickets and deliver them to N Carolinians. But then again, I have a terrible memory.

You can have all the freedoms the right want you to have.... which means you can have guns....

This is laughable... the folks who are conceiving this have no idea how the Internet works. It will be so easily circumvented it's ludicrous to waste any time on it.

Did the OP read his own link? The bill is not designed to ban porn as the OP states. It's designed to prevent children from easily accessing porn. It's actually not a bad idea. In reality it's a block to ensure accidents don't happen. I know several kids who wanted to buy something at Dick's Sporting goods and ended up on the wrong website. (I'm sure ya'll can figure out how)

From the article:

The bill would fine manufacturers or sellers that sell a device without a digital blocking system installed. But any manufacturer or seller that didn't want to install the system could pay a $20 opt-out fee for each device sold.

Any buyers who want the filter lifted after purchasing a computer or device would have to pay a $20 fee, after verifying they are 18 or older.

So............if you don't want the filter on your computer, you have to pay 20 bucks to have it removed, same thing with the manufacturers, if they don't put it in their computers, they have to pay 20 bucks per unit?

That's a freaking porn tax.

I believe it is part of the plan to keep people from viewing and spreading the raunchy photos of the new President-elect's wife, the soon to be First Lady

No --- it's not fake news ---- it's stupid news.

The truth doesn't even remotely resemble the OP. A porn site is going to ban users from NC as a protest for its anti-LGBT law.

Damn liberals can't even get their lies right .....

Perhaps. A "porn tax" sounds appropriate. But it's not a "ban" as written by the OP.

Good for them, if true; it needs t be banned, as the studies show it's a blight on male-female relations, and having a massively detrimental effect on our society. Drive it back down into the sewers where it belongs, along with the sicko gimps who defend it and are addicted to it can all slither around in their own feces.

they have been trying to get support for this in 2014, long before Trump considered running for this election year.

just in one state?
not logical
Not sure you grasp "the push is on"

Every movement starts with a first step

Your logic must be faulty logic. good luck with that

not logical

The 'states' rights' farce isn't logical, but that's what is hindering a lot of things; better one or a few than nothing. We can note Facebook and Google are openly saying they are going to censor news and opinion they don't like, but I see no threads from any 'progressives' sniveling about that, so we know it isn't censorship they're against, not at all.

Folks!! One last time ...

This is not a case of states rights, states abuse .... this is a case of a single company penalizing the whole state of North Carolina. What's next? Pillsbury going to block sales in Nebraska because it's too healthy?

That's a different (and unrelated) story.

The OP completely got the state wrong, writing "NC" when she meant "SC" ------ which is like writing "filet mignon" when you mean "canned Spam" ----- all because she just had to get it posted "NOW" instead of getting her facts together first.

So it's SC, not NC.

I would definitely support a mandatory device on computers that, when you went to post something bogus, would BSOD saying "no you will NOT post bullshit".
