If it was like you say, I applaud you. Every man has a right to protect himself and his home. A gun in the home is a fine thing to have for self defense. The story was certainly amusing, and I personally believe most Americans with guns in their homes would show more or less the same good judgement you did. Bravo.

I have a carry permit myself. But unlike the nutcases here (doesn’t sound like you qualify — though our politics are probably miles apart) I never fantasize about killing my fellow Americans. Or anyone. Yet I’m pretty damn sure I could do that if I really had to.

I dont want to shoot anyone.
But put my back to the wall and I most certainly will without hesitation. The only reason I didnt shoot was because they displayed no weapons although they had their hands in their pockets.
