Just because I'm not a republican doesn't mean that I can't respect a man for his contributions to this world and our nation.

Not everyone is so set on only approving or respecting only those who agree with them.

Teddy Roosevelt was also a republican and I respect him too.

So was Abraham Lincoln. He saved our nation and ended slavery. I have a lot of respect for him.

I've been a registered Independent since I first registered to vote in July 1978. I'm a liberal. I don't vote for a party. I vote for the person who most agrees with my views. No matter what party they're in.

It's interesting to know that Eisenhower's children have left the republican party and are Independents like I am.

If Eisenhower or someone like him was running on the republican ticket, I would consider voting for them. Just as I would consider voting for a democrat. Or an Independent or a Green party member.

That's the advantage of being an Independent. We think for ourselves and vote for the person who we agree with most. Not a party. We also aren't consumed with hate for our fellow Americans and don't believe they're our enemy.
