President declares: Every gun that is made, every warship launched is a theft from the hungry

We are more powerful than at any time in our history and have a lower threat than we have had in 85 years

ROFLMNAO!

D E L U S I O N . . . PERSONIFIED!

Care to discuss our current military power or threats we have had in the last 85 years?

You go first and then I will embarrass you

Yeah... Let's discuss it.

I'll open with the current paradigm wherein the US, it allies and interests are ever presently threatened by attack from what was unconventional forces a generation ago, but what are today, entirely conventional... in the form of Political Zealots posing as Religious Radical; all of which are rooted in one facet of collectivism or another... a species of reasoning which has inculcated itself on every level of US culture and which is presently tearing the US Culture asunder.

Then there's the reversal of Middle Eastern Power, since the Left came into power in 2007, which has taken the Middle East from there being no nation where the above noted forces were capable of operating to there now being NO NATION in the Middle East where the above noted forces are NOT OPENLY OPERATING...

Then there's the current circumstances where the would-be president of the United States is providing a path for the worst of those cults to secure their own nuclear warheads.

You can add to that the US Military readiness being at pre-WW2 Levels with the lowest standards for entry into the US Military in US military history.

Now... let's hear what ya have to say Karl.

President declares: "Every gun that is made, every warship launched is a theft from the hungry"

The most foolish of the endless spewage of foolishness it has spewed.

LOL! There's just no means for that idiocy to have been uttered by a person with ANY KINSHIP to the Principles that define America.

He was a West Point Graduate and leader of the allied forces at D Day

I think his principles are beyond reproach

There's no principle in that mess. The BEST that can be assigned to it, is that it is an intellectually unsound fallacious appeal, built upon vacuous emotion.

Every gun made is fed numerous people... and every warship made fed THOUSANDS of people.

Now THAT is a fact. Thus the position represents idiocy on parade.
Yeah but RW represents people that don't work.. so what he's really saying is I want that money give it to me.

Only if you buy into the fallacy of production for production sake

The end product does nothing to help the people vs money spent on schools, hospitals, roads and energy

But what about the Moooslims?

Sorry, terrorism is a threat capable of killing a few thousand around the world. A worse threat is in Africa where nobody cares. Neither requires a trillion dollar military to fight them

Compare to the threat of the Nazis, Japanese Empire or a nuclear armed USSR and you lose big time

Your comparisons of current day US forces to pre- WWII confirms you are a moron. Pre WWII we had the 17th largest military in the world. Today, we are more powerful than the next ten nations combined

So the weapons were used? No one purchased them? They were just being made and stockpiled for no reason?

LOL!

ROFLMNAO!

Shut the Fuck UP!

First the Federal Government has no business taking money from anyone to build schools for anybody.

Is there a Federal School District of which you'd like to inform the board?

Same with Hospitals. Same with Roads beyond the US Federal Highways System, which last time I checked has as many highways as can be paved for Federal Purposes and HAD DONE SO 50 YEARS AGO.

And as things are presently configured, the greatest threat to Energy production IS THE US FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

Sorry, terrorism is a threat capable of killing a few thousand around the world.

Huh... Ya don't say?

Yet terrorism killed 3000 innocent people, over three hours on 9-11-01 on Manhattan alone. That attack cost the US a trillion dollars in lost production in the subsequent WEEK.

Of course, they only managed to kill those 3000 because the 12,000 people in those towers evacuated before they fell.

What's more, we... and I'm speaking of Americans... do not allow idiots to murder innocent people, around the world, because that sort of thing os what we call "WRONG" and nature requires that what you allow 'around the world' will eventually get around to YOU. So, where someone is out murdering innocent people, WE... go find them and kill them.

And THAT is what those rifles and ships are for.

So, it turns out that your assessment is nonsense... and THAT is an assessment that is made 14 YEARS AFTER THE ATTACK... Ergo, you're a dumbass, who's contributions are no longer deemed worthy of consideration.

Your concession is duly noted and summarily accepted.

obama's drawdown is scheduled to have the US Army at less than 400,000 troops by the end of next year.

1940 the US Army had 485,000

It's not even debatable DUMBASS!

Where did anyone say a word about federal, state or local?

Defense pulls money away from domestic programs. Is it worth ignoring domestic suffering to act as the worlds policeman?

Talk about DUMBASS?

You think soldiers are any indication of military strength in modern military warfare?

You think soldiers are any indication of military strength in modern military warfare?

Well yes... but that's only because there's no other measure of an effective military force.

But did ya want to talk about Ships? Not just down... but pre-WW2 levels, down. Aircraft? You don't even want to know... .

Counts pretty much still work today like they did in 1490... it's a sequential thing, which sums.

Again... this isn't a particularly complex issue, it's just more than sufficiently so to be beyond your means.

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities. It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population. It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals. It is some fifty miles of concrete pavement. We pay for a single fighter plane with a half million bushels of wheat. We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people. This is, I repeat, the best way of life to be found on the road the world has been taking. This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron. … Is there no other way the world may live?

Great speech by a great President

Let's give you a little hint

One soldier today is worth 50 soldiers in 1940
One aircraft is worth 100 planes
One ship is worth 100 ships

You comparing numbers is the work of a moron

Another nearly meaningless equation. As our potential enemies improve their technology, they can only be countered with better technology or greater numbers. The technology gap is rapidly disappearing. The Russians and Chinese are reportedly well on their way to developing stealth detection technology, which means the hundreds of billions of dollars we've spent on stealth aircraft and ships will be pointless in just a few years.

Yup

And we have ten supercarrier task forces and they have none
We have more nuclear weapons than the rest of the world combined
We have alliances with Germany, France, England, Japan and South Korea and they don't
The development of radar did not make planes obsolete

Whose they? All those alliances you mention work one way only, if our allies are attacked we will defend them. Allied forces contribute nothing to our defense.

They are China and Russia, the only countries capable of engaging us in serious military conflict

Allied forces make us stronger. Did you miss out on WWII?

Maybe you just hadn't noticed, but things change, and faster all the time. How would you assess US military and economic power relative to the rest of the world? Ain't what it used to be, is it.
We are more powerful than at any time in our history and have a lower threat than we have had in 85 years
Your assessment is just short of laughable.
