President Trump Proposes The Biggest Civil Service Changes In 40 Years

what dept did you work in?....it sure wasnt done that way in the PO,if you did not show up for work and did not call in,that would result in disciplinary action, unless you had a good reason....do it repeatedly and you were gone....

Not federal but at the state level. And I don't know if it was the supervisor, the administrator, union or personnel that took so long to finally terminate her.

In the beginning it was just a few minutes here & there, no biggie. Then a few minutes turned into an hour or she'd leave at lunch & not come back & wouldn't call until 3 or 4 in the afternoon with some excuse. Then she'd call out on Fridays, usually at the first of the month. Then on an occasional Monday too. Then it became every week. Finally the supervisor called her into the office for a 'chat'. She improved for awhile, then started doing it again. Then wouldn't bother to call at all. One day here two days there. Then she'd show up, but not really do anything while there. Finally she just didn't come in, didn't call....nothing.

So what does yours (and Matthew's) posts have to do with the OP.....other than bash Trump & his supporters? Cause none of either of your ramblings have anything to do with government employees that do or don't do their jobs
And what does YOUR post have to do with the OP. Your only reason for posting was to bash ScienceRocks and me.

Aside from that, there's no way you could know which government employees do or don't do their jobs, either. So you're talking out of your ass.

Finally, we all have opinions and this is where we choose to express them. If you don't like it, eat shit.

Wrong.....go back & read thru the thread. I've made several comments that did address the OP......which had to do with government employees that don't do their jobs to be disciplined and/or terminated and those who do their jobs be rewarded.

I do know just a bit about government employees because I had been one for 14 years getting to work early, staying late, taking on extra projects, etc. I did my job and did it well, not to mention having to cover for another employee who couldn't bother to show up for work or even call to say they wouldn't make it. When she did come in, she was always late, left early and wouldn't even do the minimal duties assigned.

Our supervisor couldn't fire her outright, but had to document her for several months before being able to take it to the next step. Yet the employee would actually show up & do something right before that deadline and the supervisor had to start the whole process again........it took over 3 years before she was finally terminated.
So don't be telling me I'm talking out my ass. When you & ScienceRocks can only talk about the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer and it's all Trumps fault. Why don't you tell us all just how that compares to government employees that could lose employment protections because they can't be bothered to put in a little effort, huh? Or actually do the work they are getting paid for? Or why & the hell should they get the same rate of pay as the employees that do show up, do their own work and the work of those who don't.

Gee whiz! What a typically stereotypical story!

Yeah right.

So you were the one good government empoyee who "did my job and did it well..."

trump supporters strike again. :sleeping-smiley-015:

Yeah ok.......so you'd have to take my word for it........just like I have to take your word for it, that you guys have a brain

i carried mail 33 years.....you?....
MDO retired after 20 yrs.
military defense office?.......
If you don't know what an MDO is you never worked for the Post Office.
i carried mail in anaheim ca from 1979 to 2013....member of the NALC branch 1100...if you were management yea i may not know your little abbreviation, you fuckers all sucked, and if you dont think the PO wasted many a dollar then you may not have worked there yourself, because they wasted plenty of money...
The money wasn't wasted on personnel. Automation updates and new technology took the lionshare of the annual budget. But I do agree that the big annual bonuses we managers got were not always warranted.
thats true but a lot of so called "better ways to move the mail" concocted by some middle management flunky trying to justify his job not only cost a lot of money but was a big headache to those actually trying to move the mail... like when some dumbass decided that the carrier cases should go from 3 pieces to 2,that would be ok for offices or routes that dont get much mail, but were i was at in the Anaheim hills each route averaged anywhere from 15 to 25 ft of mail per day, after a month each route had 20-30 foot of mail piled up next to the cases that could not fit in the case, even our janitor knew this was going to be a disaster, yet this went on for a few months, then they decided to go back to 3 pieces, but they already had junked the equipment....cost lots of money to buy new stuff....and im willing to bet the dipshit who had that idea was not demoted.....probably promoted....in my 33 years i have seen many a stupid idea implemented that was costly and hindered the actual workers....but sometimes they did have good ideas....like DPSing the mail....

thats pretty bad...in the PO unless she had a dam good reason, she would have been let go..

"Hire the best and fire the worst."
This is how all good companies operate and there is no reason this should not be implemented into all government departments. In fact it makes you wonder why this is not standard practice across the board.

No. Thoses 'good companies' hire chumps for the least amount of money, then after a few step raises, fire them and hire a new chump.

"Hire the best and fire the worst."

"He seems to be interested in political revenge by firing people," Cox (American Federation of Government Employees president) said. "The government is not a family business that you get to be in total control of."

Some of Trump's proposals can be done administratively, and others would take congressional action.

I can already hears the howls from the Left and oter unions. "He can't do that to us!"

Watch him.
