Prices at The Restaurants

I was just asking why he ate out so much.
It’s none of your business. The point is that many people who COULD afford to dine out a lot before Biden’s war on the middle class now cannot afford to.

People on food stamps eat out all the time, too. Why not criticize them? Only criticism for self-supporting people.

As for the increase in prices at Restaurants let me say that Credit card companies’ fees are already being paid by customers because they are part of a merchant’s overhead expenses.
I also know that the restaurant industry has been devastated by our governments imposed regulations, and SHUT-DOWNS , and I for one have been VERY Sympathetic about that from day one.
However, over the last few weeks I have notices after getting my bill from some restaurants a Credit Card Fee for using my card.
Now I dine out several times weekly with my wife and have notices a Fee added on the bill for using a credit card, ranging from 2 percent to 4 percent. Being told about it in advance, or having it listed on the Menu is not the Issue, not at all.
As we all know very well the cost of eating out has skyrocketed with food and also the drink prices! And mostly all of the restaurants have raised their prices. I know that, and I’m not complaining about that. But now adding a Credit Card Fee on top is what I think TO MUCH.
I believe that without a doubt it will reduce the number of times people go out to a restaurant. That is a Given.
And as a customer who frequently dines in restaurants, I know will impact my going out for dinner as often as I have been..
First of all, I feel that if the restaurant is raising their prices then they should not be charging this ridiculous fee for the use of someone using their Card As a practical matter, since more than 80, and maybe 90 percent of bills at full-service restaurants are paid by credit cards, such fees should be built into the prices, as they most probably were already. .
I think the prices they are charging now is getting to be too much already, then you include the tip, the gas to get there, the Valet for parking, and now a credit card fee?. They are going to be pricing themselves out of existence.
All prices already went up. I’m VERY Sorry for all those that suffered last year. But my fixed income didn’t go up, and I’,m sure that most of their other customers haven't either
The credit card companies charge the restaurants that fee (or more, depending on the amount of the bill). They are just passing it off to you.

Stop being lazy and cook your own damn food at home.

Yeah.........my favorite breakfast burrito at Jack In The Box went from 2.99 to 4.89 since Brainless Buttplug Biden was installed into the White House.

My local Pizza Hut has gone from $10.00 for a 3 topping medium pizza to $16.99. The large pizzas are over $20.00 now!!!!!!

And the sizes have gotten smaller, as the prices skyrocketed!!!
I used to pay around $10 for a soup and half-sandwich at Panera. Now it’s $16 or so.

I used to eat out much more frequently in general, as well. I’d say maybe twice a week for dinner, and three times a week for breakfast. I’ve cut all that in half.

you’re making great points in the thread I was talking with a working class poker dealer at the Westgate Sportsbook/casino in Las Vegas. His monthly apartment rent went up $500. It’s unheard of. He and others in Vegas are feeling it because so many people have left California because of their skyrocketing prices. That and other issues that we could have avoided have led to high inflation. At the Excalibar hotel the price of a burger at a fast food place is $20.

At some of the casinos on Fremont Street they’re charging people five dollars for a cup of water. Not a bottled water but a cup of filtered water. It used to always of course be free.

Of course I keep hearing people talking about a 8 or 10% increase in inflation. This is not accurate … what I often see In grocery stores is they size down on their portions and even frozen food companies are doing this. I see at the local grocery store they size down on the food size and raise the price. So that means that inflation is actually quite a bit higher… and I have seen a 100% increase in fresh burgers at my local grocery mart. The 4 pack of frozen chicken pot pies went from $8.00 to $13.50.

And to not even begun to discuss the prices of pizza and chicken wings. If a family of four wants to order out it’s astronomical.

America‘s been through a lot. We got through the Great Depression so if we have the right leader ship and a strong and healthy Citizenry we can get through this thing.
I’m worried that we will not be able to recover from two more years of Democrats’ fighting to make things worse for Americans. And as the end of Biden’s term approaches, they’ll ramp up the damage. You see how they pushed through the Inflation-Raising Bill just one week before the Republicans take over the House.

Why do you buy groceries? Don’t you know how to farm?

Who are you to OP? Are you the pampered wife that refuses to cook?

You do know how to fix that problem, right? It's very simple.

Pay cash.

Generally when I go out to eat, it's only on the weekend when the local taco truck is in the Tractor Supply parking lot. They charge only 2.50 for a taco (they're worth more as they taste great and you can fill up on only 2-3). They only take cash, but the prices aren't so expensive that I don't have enough to get lunch. 5.00 is reasonable to me.

And yeah, it's not only restaurants that are charging extra for credit card use. I go to a local garage to get my oil changed and whatever I need fixed on my car, and they have a sign that says credit card purchases will be charged a 3 percent fee for each transaction. I either make sure I have the cash in my pocket when I go there, or use my debit card to avoid the fees. Especially when it comes to stuff I need done that is over 400 bucks, as 400 is 12 dollars in just fees. I asked why they do it, and they said it's because the credit card companies are charging them extra to use their service, which doesn't make much sense to me as the credit card companies are already making money by charging you interest and in most cases, an annual fee for using their card.

My Grandparents taught me that if I couldn't pay cash for it, or make payment arrangements with the person I was buying from, I didn't need it. Just got my FIRST credit card approved a couple of weeks ago at the tender age of 58 (still waiting for it to show up in the mail, should be here next week), and the only reason I did that is because my credit score is non existent due to never having needing it before, but now, I need it to apply for a VA loan to buy a house. My interest rate for my card is going to be at around 17.25 percent interest (got it through my bank who I've been with for a few decades now), but I've seen cards that go as high as 27 percent. That is legal robbery in my opinion.

My opinion of what I've seen of credit card companies? They are one of the biggest scams to take your money that ever existed legally.

Man, the last time I went to Jack In The Box they didn't even have a breakfast burrito...

Man, find yourself a good, local pizzeria. Places like Pizza Hut and Papa John's are garbage...

Agreed. If you are in Newberry, SC, the place for getting a pizza that I would recommend is Irene's of Newberry. The owner is from Brooklyn and he's got the best pizza in town. Not only are the toppings good and plentiful, but he's got the best pizza crust in 3 counties.

Interestingly enough, his pizzas aren't that much more expensive than the crap you get from chain stores, but they are so much better.

Eat someplace else that doesn't charge it.

I love places like that...

But that's with regards to the consumer, not the merchant.

Should a merchant be able to use credit card processing for free?

...the only reason I did that is because my credit score is non existent due to never having needing it before, but now, I need it to apply for a VA loan to buy a house.

When I purchased my first home in San Diego in 1999, my credit rating was in the toilet, and I went VA. All that was needed was a letter explaining the shortcomings in my credit report...

Not really.

Pay your balance monthly. Sure, sometimes that may not be possible, but you save a shit-ton of money by doing that.

As for them being a scam, they're really not. First, you're not forced to use them. Second, if I want to buy a car I can go to a dealership and put it on my AmEx. It saves me from having to walk into a dealer with a briefcase full of case, and it saves me the time it would take to get a cashier's check from the bank.

Why shouldn't I pay something for that?

I’m adding to a thread. Are you just an insufferable leftist who launches insults at people who point out the consequences of Democrat policies?
I asked OP a single question and you took it personally even though I was not even talking to you. You're a busybody pain in the ass.

I was supporting the OP. You nasty leftists jump in and attack anyone who points out the very obvious and very damaging consequences of what is sitting in the Oval Office right now, and the leftists manipulating the senile old guy.

You are one nasty POS.

You're nothing but words on a screen to me. Why do give other people the power to make you so angry?
