"Cancel culture" is all too often not about holding people accountable for their misdeeds as it is about engaging in a witch hunt and humiliating people over their transgressions from many years, even decades earlier, that does not reflect the growth and maturation of those people that has taken place since that time.

Here it is in a nutshell. People just can't keep their mouths (keyboards) shut. Left or right, everybody's got to get their opinion out there and grab their
15 minutes. Whelp, while that Constitution guarantees the right to free speech, it DOESN'T guarantee the right to no consequences resulting from
that free speech. Whether you like it or not, at some point, certain behaviors and speech become unacceptable. Sometimes due to the sensitivity of
the moment environmentally, sometimes because enough people have evolved beyond that way of thinking or acting to consider it acceptable.
Most people who get "cancelled" get a second shot. Only the most irredeemable (O'Reilly, Barr) that people have had enough of don't.

The obvious answer is to treat other people with respect - something that none of the people you mentioned seem capable of doing.

Trump is removed from Twitter for inciting violence insuurection. You seem to think that there should be no consequences for the actions that people take. You can lie to people and insult people and tell them that you want an election that you lost and that they should fight the government on your behalf and there are no consequences.

The real world does not work that way.

Well the average Americans need to say stop it. All of them.

The problem is the minority of Americans are the ones bitching and pushing for cancel culture. But the majority of Americans say nothing so it looks like the minority speak for us all. Unless the majority pushes back then it will keep on going and get worse.

In this case, cancel culture only happens because we let it happen. It's our fault.
