This never happened and the charges doesn't say they plotted to take over the government but to disrupt a certification process which happened but Congress came back in two hours to finish the certification and declare Biden the winner.

Not a word about taking over the government in the indictment charges.

There was NO overthrow of the government heck the Congress came back in the Capital building in two hours to finish the Certification process the same day.

Nothing in that definition, or yours, requires an insurrection to be successful to be an insurrection.
