The oppressive government may have the force to do it but it sure as hell does not have a duty to take the money that I earn and give it to somebody else, does it? That is like Tony Soprano saying he has a duty to take protection money from the businesses in town to provide for the welfare of his family, isn't it?

I struggle with this. Clearly I view government as not having a role in healthcare. However, we have to recognize the reality that the country is so overwhelmingly in favor of government having a major role in providing healthcare, to just fight anyone who doesn't support that is tilting at windmills. It's not going to go away.

I'm looking forward to Trump's proposal. I'm hoping he does provide free market proposals as he says he will. I am sure I won't like it, but I hope I can live with it
 
I wonder, those who supported Trump because they hate big federal government favoring states rights will think when Trump/Pence & the Republicans decide that States have no rights in determining which insurances can sell into their state & what the policies need to cover.

The so-called "Commerce Clause", Part of the original purpose of which was to delegate the authority to the Federal Government to eliminate trade barriers between the States, i.e. in this case, knock down internal state barriers to selling insurance ACROSS STATE LINES.

It's actually an exercise of the clause that aligns with the original intent.

So you want to reduce states right on Health Insurance and make Health insurance under Federal control...

Healthcare is a basic human right.

No it is not. If somebody told you that, even Trump then he/she was lying to you.

It is not your right to force me to have to pay your bills. If you think that then you are a sorry ass thief.

We have some rights guaranteed under the Constitutions. Like the right to keep and bear arms. The right to have you require that I pay your bills is not one of them.

Democracy is the rule of the mob. Just because the majority of the people decide to take my liberty away doesn't mean that it is right.

Obamacare took a lot of liberty away from a lot people. Forced participation, higher taxation and higher cost to cover the welfare queens. That was wrong.

I think the "overwhelming majority" will tell you that they are in favor of government interference until they get the bill for it and then they would be whistling a different tune.

I suspect the Trump administration will make health care more affordable and better because Obamacare was so screwed up and it won't take much to fix it. However, it would be better than that if the stupid government would stop interfering and let the magic of the free market provide the best service for the least cost like they do with other commodities.

I'm a libertarian because I want to minimize government to maximize my liberty. I want to do it in real life, not theoretically. To do that, I have to recognize reality. Medical is hard for me because my view is like yours that government has no legitimate role in healthcare. I'm struggling with where to draw the line. But I think just denying how the population overwhelmingly views it isn't going to achieve my libertarian objective

It use to be that education was mostly a combined community project. The people with children of an area would pool their money and hire a teacher and build a school house. There is nothing wrong with that and it was probably done for a low cost. Most Libertarians would support that concept.

I sent my sons to a private school where they got a great education and the the cost per student was less than half that of what the county was paying per student. The government always screws up everything.

I would agree that far too many people think they will somehow get something out of government interference in the free market, especially health care but that is simple ignorance of free market forces.

I know I am preaching to the choir when I say to you that we don't need the government telling us what to do and forcing us to give our money to other people. However, these stupid Moon Bats on here don't understand the concept of Liberty and they need to be reminded of it from time to time.

That's like saying provide a better alternative to a train wreck. How about no Gubmint intervention. Let the free market decide just like home owner insurance, car insurance and life insurance. Some regulations but open competition.

That's like saying provide a better alternative to a train wreck. How about no Gubmint intervention. Let the free market decide just like home owner insurance, car insurance and life insurance. Some regulations but open competition.

If it is that easy....why haven't Republicans come up with anything better in eight years of trying?
