Republican top priority.....Raise taxes on the poor

You eliminate the earned income tax credit for poor people.

Is that what congress is doing, Comrade? or were shitflinger and the hate sites just lying like the demagogues they are?

$1,725 dollars when you're only making R$14,500 is a huge blow. Its not like we're talking about welfare queens or people on disability. This would be targeted directly at those who are working full time, providing vital, useful labor.

Or the 'takers' as republicans like to call them.

There is no proposal by any Republican to eliminate the EITC, "The Week" is a sleazy little rag with less credibility than "Rolling Stone." Notice how the dirty little fucks never mention an actual proposal, or even a Republican by name who proposes elimination of the EITC? Notice how the oozing filth of the left simply throws out "Republicans want" with no substantiation through an actual quote or proposal? The is how the Demagogue party operates, Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt.

Income tax on the poor is largely ineffective anyway, as you are making a big disincentive for poor people to pay for their own healthcare and food. Higher income taxes on the poor put further strain on medicare, food stamp programs, and other government services. But ending taxes on the poor is probably not going to get through congress, even though it would probably be an incentive for people to work and develop a nest egg.

Income and direct taxes are highly ineffective in all ways. What you say is true, but not limited to the poor.

Republicans are looking to slash funding for food stamps. People have to eat
If the poor have to pay more for cigarettes or beer ....I don't really care

Ah, good old noblesse oblige, how bougie of you.

Yet when republicans want to tie benefits to drug tests, or restrict handouts to certain things, you guys get all "stop treating the poor badly!!!". Interesting hypocrisy here.

I don't have a problem with tying benefits to drug tests as long as they drug test those corporations that are receiving $440 billion
I don't want them blowing that money on drugs and hookers

Show me those checks the government writes to these companies. Again you confuse hand outs with tax breaks.

"Those companies" get both and its the middle class and working poor who pay for them.
How do the "working poor" pay for 'them' if they pay ZERO federal income tax?
Through sales taxes and cigarette taxes and liquor taxes and gasoline taxes and Social security taxes that have been shifted to pay for what income taxes should have paid for, and through property taxes, or through their rent which pays the property tax for the owner, and through lottery tickets, and licensing fees etc...and taxes paid on utility bills...

NO ONE, absolutely no one lives in the USA without paying taxes to the State and Federal Government.

The working poor pay taxes at the same time they struggle to support their families

That is what Republicans don't understand

False and you know it.
At the federal level, the poor get far-far-far more back in taxes than they pay in.
We are now to a point to where we are just about hitting the 60% mark of the TOTAL WORKING POPULATION that pay zero federal taxes.
The "rich don't pay their shares" is a myth, and again, I know you know this.

Say, didn't your little tin god impose the largest increase on cigarette taxes in history? A direct assault on the poor? Isn't actually the demagogue party that is taxing the holy fuck out of the poor?

No one has to buy cigarettes, liquor, and lottery tickets. Social Security is mandatory savings FOR poor people. Is it your contention poor people should be exempt from paying ALL taxes?

Yet the poor are dis-proportionally smokers, particularly the black poor. This is a direct assault on the poor by the democrats.

Democrats:Taxing the fuck out of the poor!

They often do not pay federal or state personal income tax.

If the goal is to tax the poor, then there should be a tax on tattoos.

First, it's yet another reminder that Republicans don't care about the national debt. Conservative carping about the debt is 100 percent of the time a rhetorical cudgel deployed with utter cynicism against programs they dislike for other reasons. When the topic is food stamps or unemployment insurance, they demand offsets to pay for them. (Because "we're broke," as Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) put it in a similar context.) But when it comes to dropping planeloads of money on corporations and rich people, Republicans will casually blow a half-trillion hole in the 10-year budget without blinking.

How about it Republicans?

When it came to providing money to families for disaster relief or economic hardship you demanded "We need to cancel something to pay for it" We need an offset to be fiscally responsible
Yet, you throw out a $440 billion tax break to corporations with no concern over how the lost revenue will be replaced
Exactly!

"Maybe that first, gigantic deficit the Reaganites piled up was an accident, just a combination of deluded 'supply side' tax cuts and a huge bag of good stuff for the Pentagon. But pretty quickly conservatives discovered that deficits, when done correctly, did something really cool: deficits defunded the Left."

The working poor do not pay Federal or State income taxes. They do pay Social Security and Medicare taxes as well as state sales taxes. Just exactly what tax is the Republican congress going to raise that affects the working poor?
Any and every one of them and a few that don't exist yet.

No, but you can die on the streets when they come to enforce the tax laws, amirite???

It doesn't matter, the point is that TAXES are collected off of these people and it is an outright lie when people say the poor pay no taxes to support the government, when THEY DO.

George W Bush lowered the tax rates for everyone that worked for a living. That included the poor. What bill has been passed by the Republicans that would raise taxes on the poor. Be specific or fuck off.

It should always be specified that about one half of filers do not pay Federal Personal Income Tax.

Bush's tax cuts were wrong, across the board, then, and they are wrong now.

Those revenues lost should have been collected and applied to the debt.

If the taxes collected are less than benefits collected, they pay no EFFECTIVE taxes.

Bush redistributed the Social Security Surplus, collected from incomes under $100,000 and redistributed it mostly to incomes over $100,000 and to capital gains tycoons who don't even pay payroll taxers. That kind of redistribution of wealth the GOP loves!!!
