Rich men north of Richmond

The song is literally about politics.
What do you think rich men north of richmond means?
Well, north of Richmond, Texas is Katy and Tomball, and there are some retired Chevron and Exxon executives, and Chevron Phillips Chemical. He hates Big Oil and Big CHem?

Bitching about poor people is simply being ugly.
Yup.

This guy could have so easily followed a Guthrie/Dylan/Springsteen compassionate populist path, but instead he chose this ugliness.

Maybe that’s who he is.

Sad that he and the song are perceived as anything but ugly; even Trump has more class than this guy.

And speaking of Springsteen:

Actually, it shows how much white people are kind of awful.
They are sad that they lost what their parents fought for, but have no idea who took it all away from them.
And you have the stupid part covered. Thanks.
